Made my payments to credit cards today so £300 in total.
Things will be tight this month but we should be ok. I will have a total of 32 extra hours this month (still to work 21 of these) so about £327 extra give or take a few pounds.
Off work today so need to have a mammoth cooking session to bulk cook meals for the coming weeks.
I have also decided I need to do something about my weight. I am only a stone over weight but I see it mainly in my face. I also don't take enough care of myself so I have the dr's tomorrow in the hope that he will give me something to help my sleep as this is a huge downfall. I must average about 3 hours a night these days.
I also used my boots points and bought a really decent face cream and I have downloaded myfitness pal and aim to stick to 1200 calories a day and hope to see some changes by the time we head of for the wedding in October.
So this morning I had 2 boiled eggs no toast as I am sure it's carbs that don't help.
Also need to increase my water intake so I am sitting here with a pint of water and once that is finished I am off to walk the legs off the dog :rotfl:
Once back from the dog I will head to the shop and buy some fuit/veg.0 -
Today was a NSD and lets hope it's the first of many this month.
Cupboards and fridge/freezer full thankfully as only have about £44 left of this months food budget, apart from milk, bread and fruit we should be okay.
Gas and Elec for August came in at £77.77 (July was £81.04)
I have emailed them asking if the arrears are paid off. If so then I am going to request my DD is cancelled and that they bill me monthly and I will pay that amount. I currently pay £136 and for the last few months have been well below this (I appreciate it was summer) but with having the smart meter I think we shall be able to keep on top of everything. Will put the £136 away at the start of each month and then anything left over can go to the credit cards.
Also need to have another look at sky, we just aren't watching enough to justify the bill, we did get it down from £90 to £66 a month or so ago but really could do with getting this down as well.
I will also be checking out an insurance policy we have as I am sure we are doubly insured. If that is the case we could be looking at a saving of £98 there.
We are also coming to renewal date for a few things so hopefully we can make a few savings on these as well.
On the healthy eating front I have kept to 1200 calories the last few days and have increased my water intake. Had a sneaky can of coke today but was feeling really tired and felt like I needed the sugar burst. I did account for this on my fitness pal.
Not 100% whats for dinner. I have a feeling I want soup or a baked potato.0 -
Have worked out the gas and elec, we are due a bill on the 13th October so once that is in and I see what's what's I will decide about the DD. Though it does say if I choose another payment method by daily rate etc will go up.
Money is sooooo tight. Actually going to be £25.98 short and that's just the bills doesn't include any petrol
Need to have another at the snowball calculator and check the credit card statements.
Dinner is spag bol, took the mince out the freezer this morning.
Right off to walk the dog while it is still dry.0 -
Hey Nymphadora,
It is so hard when you feel like you keep having these setbacks but these will become fewer & fewer as you get further into this debt free journey.
Important thing is to try & keep up the motivation & remember that every month even if it is a small amount you are reducing your debt which is going to massively benefit you in the long run.
We are the same, some months we do great others not so great but we are always in less debt than we were the month before which is a good thing.

Thanks for dropping in Dolly Rocker.
I have moved £50 from a small savings account we have so we should be fine.
I have £20.88 left of the food budget but I have tons of mince, chicken, potatoes, soup and beans so not worried about food. In fact we have a huge freezer and there is no room left lol0 -
Have been very busy over the last week and this means I am feeling rubbish.
New tablets from the Dr, extra hours at work and more building work at home has taken it's toll.
Money wise we are overdrawn (mainly due to DH work not paying expenses as quickly as they should).
Building work should be finished in 2 weeks and then we are done for this year so looking forward to that.
No extra hours now till the 2nd week in October then we are away abroad for the wedding so looking forward to that.
Need to tidy the house a bit today so I've made a list.
Clean out fridge
Wash work/school clothes (need to be 2 lots) One load done.
hoover living room
Check food in freezer
Iron
Walk dog.
Get bag/clothes ready for work/school.0 -
I have been feeling awful this last week or so and because I haven't kept my eye on the ball things have slipped.
I was supposed to have extra hours in the 2nd week of October, that got cancelled and then on Thursday I was asked to do more hours this coming week so today I need to get organised today for the week ahead.
Work haven't confirmed any more extra hours but they think there will be some in November and December.
We go away soon for the family wedding so need to start getting organised.
I have decided to try and use everything in the freezer so today so far I have made spag bol and have mince defrosting to made cottage pie.
Need to also have a look at the credit cards. Only 1 more fairly large expense to go on it for the house then we can knuckle down and getting stuck into paying them off.
Right best get moving as still in my PJ's.0 -
That's us back from the family wedding. Great time had. Got back last Thursday and I ended up waking up on Friday with a stinking cold.
Back at work on Monday but now finished for the month. May have some overtime in November just waiting on work confirming this.
So big spends are all done with now just need to credit card statements to update then I can finally start drawing up a plan to get rid of it.
I did make a slight start today on reducing our costs. I go the renewal in for our home insurance and I managed to get a quote elsewhere for £7 a month less. Not a huge amount but it's a start.0 -
Still waiting on credit card statement for 1 of the cards to come through but the debt is astounding (I knew it would be)
I have got what I can on Interest free but the biggest I have yet to look into getting this moved as we would need a card with a big limit and i'm not sure that's doable.
Card 1 £10,69.17
Card 2 £1,068.15
Card 3 £2,126.67
Card 3 £1,047.83
Card 4 £1,869.26
Can meet all minimum payments but trying to find more cash to over pay.
Do have about £1022 in savings but will need some of this for xmas and birthdays (both kids December birthdays and yes I am aware I didn't work that one out lol however they are older and have been told there will be a cut back this year, they don't need much anyway)
I have reduced our sky package a bit but only saved £9 however some discounts and add services we have been getting for free or reduced end in January so will see what can be saved there. I am also looking at pet insurance and I think we can get this down by about £12 but need to double check the finer print don't want to leave us under insured. Car Insurance also due in December so hoping renewal will be through soon.
So with the £7 home insurance saving and £9 sky I have an extra £16 a month to through at the debt.
Need to have a good sort out of everything as the house is a tip. Hoping there might be some things we can sell.0 -
So yesterday and Friday we NSD. TOday I needed petrol and some food.
£20 in Petrol
£15 in food.
Having roast chicken tonight and will make some Yorkshire puddings as well as I have plenty of flour in
So my weight is also something I have mentioned today. I carry it all on my tummy and I watched a programme the other day about how this is the worst place to carry it so as of today I am (yet again) trying to do something. I believe it is the carbs that are my weak point so today I have only had an omelette wit bacon strips in it and water to drink.
Will have some roast potatoes for dinner and of course a Yorkshire pud but most will be chicken and veg.
Supper is my weak point I usually have toast or crackers with some cheese so will need to rethink this, along with week day breakfast which is normally croissant.0
