Sat 23rd/ Sun 24th July - what small DFW things will you do this weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning frugal pals :hello:
Today is my DH birthday and also our anniversaryalthough he is currently at work, but will be home shortly and is on holiday for a week :T although he inadvertently moved his present that was hidden (just a little something from the DDs - we don't do gifts anymore) and he can't remember where to, so he hasn't got a present from us
Foxgloves thanks for the mint tip and also the cat food tip. Yesterday I won the 'whose going to give in first' game with him :rotfl: he's currently tucking into the rest of the pouch for breakfast with 3 'treats' buried. He can't believe his luck that the treat box came out before 9am :rotfl:
List for today:
Check banking, surveys and FPL
Make appointment at C1arks towards the end of the holiday for measuring DD feet fir school shoes. Saves waiting forever when it's busy, busy, busy
Washing out t dry that was washed on cheap, another in
Windows open for lots of fresh air
Bump selling posts
Check fleabay listings, try a couple more
Make filling for DH birthday cake
Quick tidy round
Maybe some gardening
Going to see a children's show at local town hall this afternoon, paid already
Enjoy the weather folks, looks like it's going to be sunny again0 -
Morning all,
Gearing up to be another hot day today. On today's money saving list:
*Water veggie garden & greenhouse.
*Put colour on yukky roots. Only mixed up half a pack for this last time so this will mean 2 colourings from 1 box.
*Make bread rolls.
*Make pineapple chutney with my haul of cheapo Aldi pineapples.
*Make a picnic for tomorrow when we are aiming to have an inexpensive day out.
*Knit more of Mum's present.
*Do a prize crossword.
That will do. The chutney-making will take a while & it's going to be a hot day.
Have a good one, all.

P.S Just seen the queues on TV for the Channel Tunnel. Big delays due to enhanced security situation in France. Holiday makers advised to pack plenty of food & water because of the long hot wait. Made me think I wouldn't swap my forthcoming budget UK camping trip for joining those queues of cars even.if someone else was paying!2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Hi folks,
I really struggle to keep up to date on this (or any) thread due to early starts/long days/being exhausted BUT I'm now out of office for just over 2 weeks (long story that I can't go into here) so I'll be raring to go tomorrow.
- Only bought the basics at the shops as the freezer will be getting inventoried / used up over the next couple of weeks
- Will tidy house (full of cold/laryngitis so cleaning can wait until tomorrow)
- Picked up a dozen cakes I won in a local radio competition:j
- Clean out fridge to house said cakes and check what needs used up
- Make soup in the soup maker to use up veg (this was a great buy, I have to admit - I always thought soup - pot until we burnt the arris out the soup pot one day. Never happens with a soup maker and it allows us to make 3 or 4 good size portions at a time rather than the 10 or so we used to make
)
- Check Mr A wombled receipts
That's it for today - I will keep up over the next few weeks
Good to speak to y'all rather than just reading.

So not small things related but I had to call the police earlier as I heard a lot of screaming coming from a neighbouring house. I dont know the household. I dont know what was going on. I just felt bad that if someone was hurt and I didnt call and then found out it would be terrible. They were going to go round.
There was a story on the news this morning about a woman who was brought to the UK illegally and lived in slavery for years. I couldnt help but think of that when I heard the noise today.
Normal small things updates from now on." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Before I forget - late on but happy birthday and anniversary PF - I hope it's been a good one.
It's quiet on here today - hope everyone is enjoying the sun and some time to themselves. I've had a reasonably quiet day by my standards...crazy_cat_lady wrote: »

[STRIKE]:cool2: pokemon hunt if the kids want to and behave[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]:cool2: look for ways to make money for vet fund[/STRIKE] cashed out on COS, and PA and am crocheting like mad.
[STRIKE]:cool2: clean the bathroom[/STRIKE]

[STRIKE]:cool2: relax and enjoy[/STRIKE]! Had a little nanna nap this morning after my training session but I still feel like I could sleep for a week even now. It's going to be a few more recovery days I think
I also got nagged to death by ds until I got off my backside and hoovered the grass (it feels less painful if I call it hoovering), and also did a bit of essential shopping in BM bargains in town while the kids did pokemon hunting. Other than that it's more crochet with the hope of selling some stuff as it seems to be really popular and I have a huge stash of wool. Not giving up
