Sorry Cat, those girls sound mean!

  • One more get up... Nearly there. I'm so tired and emotional though that I cried most of the way through the carol service at school today. Not because it was sad, but because I'm so soft and tired and everything got a bit much. I've made the decision that I can't go to the Head's leaving speeches tomorrow because I'll just be a gibbering wreck by the end of it. Don't know where I'm going to go and hide instead but I can't make a fool of myself like that because I'm so tired.
Since getting home an hour ago I have spilt 1 cup of hot chocolate, 1 mocha, 1 bowl of cat food, the remains of the hot chocolate that I salvaged, a tub of ice cream and a packet of pasta. I think I should give up for the evening...
So pleased to be nearly there though. I think I fancy doing some crochet for the first time this week.
  • I've made it to the end of term! :j:j:j
Decided to have the day off from the computer yesterday, after being in bed and asleep before 9pm on Friday night. I must have needed it. I spent the day making a start on decluttering the house and getting a to-do list together for all of the annoying jobs that I leave until the end of the term. Also did a massive grocery shop which I hope will take us beyond Christmas because it's getting pretty hectic around the shops at the moment. Christmas shopping all done and complete - just the wrapping to do, and one blanket to finish up (but I have until NY to do that as I won't see my friend before then.
So I have decided to set myself the task of decluttering 1 bag of rubbish per day from the house (whether it's rubbish, recycling or whatever - it's stuff I need to get out of my own place) among all of the other jobs. Easy to start with but I suspect that this will become more difficult as the week goes on.
I also have my only Christmas night out tonight - off to see a show in Newcastle. I'm driving, so that will minimise the costs. It's something me and bestie do every year as a little treat to ourselves... Quite looking forward to it actually, although I suspect I'm going to struggle to find something nice to wear because I don't really have any going out clothes. No matter, it's the company and the event - not what I'm wearing.
OK - best make a start I suppose.
  • Official day 1 of the hols :xmassmile
I had a really good night out last night with the bestie last night - spent less than a tenner as well so that's happy news. It kind of put me in the festive mood as well, although I still feel as though I have a lot to do before I can properly relax - yet here I am sitting with my feet up, cuppa beside me and just relaxing on here.
I'm definitely more accountable when I make myself a to-do list though, and whilst there is a physical to-do list in the kitchen I am also putting it on here so I can check off later what I've done and what I still have to do...
:rudolf: phone the vets and get 2 naughty torties in for their jabs.
:rudolf: phone student loans company about the letter I got (apparently I'm in credit but I just can't see how that's possible)
:rudolf: at least 1 full bag of rubbish
    :rudolf: empty the recycling
:rudolf: urgently write and post Christmas cards that need posting (I hate doing this and now only send to very close family and friends but I will always need to send some)
:rudolf: change my bedding (put the Christmas bedding on!)
:rudolf: wrap some presents (not sure how I do this without the kids finding out)
:rudolf: continue with the couple of urgent knitting and crochet projects I need to do (1 for Christmas, 1 for New Year) - but if I start on this then it will take over my entire day so I need to do the other stuff first...
:rudolf: try and keep the kids entertained, not too hyper for Christmas, but with plenty to do...
    :rudolf: wash dishes
:rudolf: make something nice and healthy for dinner
    :rudolf: hoover through
That seems like an utterly massive list - I suppose I should make a start. Back later folks
  • Well I am officially calling today a real success - I got loads done and although I'm utterly shattered and ready to sleep for a week the only things I have left to do really are the daily jobs and to keep going with crafting and present wrapping for as long as I can.

[STRIKE]:rudolf: phone the vets and get 2 naughty torties in for their jabs.[/STRIKE] All done - took them this evening and the fight to get one of them in the box is over for another year...
[STRIKE]:rudolf: phone student loans company about the letter I got (apparently I'm in credit but I just can't see how that's possible)[/STRIKE] I am in credit, not by much but it will really help me out as we're so strapped for cash this close to Christmas

[STRIKE]:rudolf: wrap some presents (not sure how I do this without the kids finding out)[/STRIKE] did the stuff that the three of us could do together...

The list on here definitely motivated me to get stuff done today. So I shall continue with it tomorrow. Boring for all you poor folk reading about my life though...

Oh CCL, it's not boring! We love celebrating the achievements of people on the forum. I personally find something very satisfying about items on a to do list being achieved-even if it's not mine!

  • I agree Florence. It also gives me motivation to do those not so attractive tasks.

CCL, from the bottom of my heart, i hope you can begin to relax and enjoy your well deserved break. Hopefully you and your DH can find some time for each other too.

CCL I am genuinely interested to know what things you give your son to do to keep him entertained? Mine is not crafty. Isn't given to kicking a ball around in the garden on his own and left to own devices it would be screen time all the way....

  • Hi all :hello:
Well it's been another productive morning, which I am happy about. Unfortunately I had quite a rough night last night, which has left me feeling pretty ropey this morning. Thankfully, the big stuff is done today, as are the daily tasks, so I can rest for the rest of the afternoon if I want or need to.
Speky - thanks so much for your kind words... I am hoping and planning to rest as much as is possible. It's quite tough at the moment because my anxiety levels are so high again but it's not from lack of trying.
Bob - it really depends what kind of mood ds is in as to what will keep him entertained. Sometimes it has to be screen time - either phone or TV. But, he likes to help with bits of jobs round the house (fixing stuff, helping present wrap, cooking etc); he likes reading if he's in the right mood for it; he's happy to go to the park and kick a ball about as well. He also has friends just a bit further up the street so if the weather is ok he's normally out and about.
So, after a rotten sleep again, I went out at half past eight this morning for a hair appointment. We were there for absolutely ages but in a nice way, and I always feel better after I've had my hair done. Followed by a quick wander around B and M bargains for a last couple of gift bags for my handmade gifts.
Got home and did the daily jobs - bag of rubbish, washing up, load of washing and hovering then watched a bit of a box set I've gotten myself hooked in. Then tried for a little nap only to be woken by needing to sign for a parcel. Now I still feel tired but not able to sleep...
Other things I still need to do are mainly to get on with my knitting to try and finish this blanket for my dad and to continue with present wrapping, a job I am not getting a lot of time to do at the moment. Hoping to avoid the shops if at all possible this afternoon but ds is quite restless so I suspect we may end up somewhere - hope I can talk him into a walk for some pokemon or something (not that I much feel like it)...
