Motormile Finance Default Scam

Hi all,
I've logged into Experian recently to check my credit score etc and decided to go into detail.
I found that I have a debt which Motormile Finance have recorded as defaulted but they have updated the default date from 2012 to 2016!! I originally took the loan in 2011 which it still says is correct, it was defaulted in 2012 but now it is showing as defaulted on 24/06/2016!
The debt was a payday loan, I still haven't repaid it out of principle (no really!). The lender no longer operates (Swift Sterling) and if they had the loan would have been nullified like my others because of the affordability checks (or lack thereof!)
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can address this issue? Opportunistically speaking is there maybe a chance I can get the whole thing wiped seeing as they're playing dirty?
Thanks to all in advance!

Contact them and ask them to amend.
It won't be wiped. Looks like everyone has played dirty.0 -
Complain stating that they have recorded a false and inaccurate new default date, and that unless they change it back then you will be taking them to the FOS and ICO.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks for the advice so far everyone.
Just a bit of an update. I have made my complaint, to which they have replied asking for screenshots from all the credit reference agencies I want the default date amended on.
Obviously this is every one of them but signing up for them all is going to cost money and they do not need this information they're just playing hardball.
I have attached a screenshot of my Experian default and I'm now getting radio silence.
They've purposely re-ruined my credit score by falsifying information. Surely there's something I can do to change this?0 -
I'd suggest don't pay to sign up to each CRA. Rather, order your statutory £2 credit report from each one and send that with your complaint to the lender, along with notifying them with what action you'll take should they not shift from their current position.0

Either tell them that they cannot conceivably not have a record of the data they have supplied to the CRAs, so you consider their demand to be a delaying tactic and time continues to run until you will be going to the FOS.
Or just get a statutory £2 report from CallCredit and Equifax. No sign up required, and £4 cost total.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks guys, I will apply for my statutory report from the final 2 agencies if I need to. But the thing that is the worst is the silence on their part now, I did what was required and now they're going silent.
It's ironic really. A debt collection agency being chased by the debtor and cannot get a response, are they really winning? Maybe not, but I'm definitely losing as I should be in a position where this default was 1 year from going away and as things stand I'm facing 6 years + with it.
Surely what they are doing is falsifying information? It must be illegal? Any other approach I could maybe take?0 -

Why would you pay for a £2 statutory report from Callcredit when they supply the reports for free through Noddle?
Also you can get Experian data from Clearscore for free!.0 -
I think you have to give them a fair chance to rectify it before deciding your next steps. Given the volume of customers they may be dealing with, perhaps it's a clerical error?0

How about paying back money that you borrow as you agreed too!.
Wouldnt it be funny if they stay silent for many years just like you did when you were supposed to be paying them back :rotfl:0
