Hi,
I am looking for an area/location to buy a small holding to produce as much of my food as possible, raise livestock and sell direct to consumers.
The trouble is land rent where I live (Midlands) is £100p/acre which doesn't allow many sheep per acre.. so i've been looking at alternative places to live (cheaper!) as I want a more simple life.

I have came across small holdings for sale in Ireland, where I would be able to live on site and breed my own livestock, even with a mortgage it would be cheaper than land only rent.

The problem is the GBP to Euro Conversion,
Can anyone help and advise..
I have read that last year the GBP was 1.43 and now only 1.19, is the pound still increasing?

Are we still able to move freely in Europe - Ireland and buy property abroad?

What other things are needed to be considered when buying in Ireland?

Many thanks
:)

If we knew which way currencies were going to move we'd all be lounging in the Carribean on our mega-yachts. It's impossible to answer your question, although you may have noticed a referendum a month ago that has had a significant impact on the value of the pound.

Moving freely between Ireland and England has nothing to do with being part of the EU. It's a private agreement between our respective governments

Whilst agricultural land may be cheaper, do your homework very carefully, the cost of living is a lot higher and there's no free health care
