Trip of a lifetime holiday with my family to Sri Lanka booked departing in 2 weeks with Elegant Travels, also known as Travel Sri Lanka. Based in Barnet, Herts. All ATOL/IATA Registered.
Looks as if they are in serious trouble. Not answering phones/e mails and it looks like the 7 hotels I've booked through them are not booked at all. Travel in 2 weeks and no documents, visas, tickets or itinerary. I posted on Trip Advisor yesterday and found another traveller due to depart on Tuesday in exactly the same boat. We've compared concerns and joined all the dots and its devastating.
If anyone has any knowledge of them, or can help clarify their position I'd be more than glad to hear from them, as all indications are that they're going bust
Martin/Forum Managers - What should my/our course of action be? Credit Card was used to pay AND ATOL may help but only if the announce they've gone into adminisration as proof - currently they seem to be just hiding. I also now need funds to try to re-book.

I find no ATOL for Travel Siri , although it would trade under the main name

Thanks for this although I've already checked and they are still ATOL registered, at the moment. I've e mailed ATOL (CAA) and am waiting for feedback from them. I wish I had a phone number and could talk to a human directly. If they were in administration formally, I could get on with problem solving, but the issue is they've just stopped trading it seems and aren't communicating...

whats their new ATOL registration if you have it , is it different on the paperwork you have ??

Browntoa - Ive just looked at the ATOL link again- I hadn't read your post properly where you'd cut and paste that they've ceased trading. Sorry (still asleep). Totally shocked and disgusted, but I suppose not surprised. Their ATOL status as OK last night, but updated to 'Ceased Trading ' at 2am this morning!!!!!! Im glad I posted on here as I wouldn't have continued checking it.... Thank you.

Disgusting that their customers have to find out this way. A formal announcement is better than hiding in silence.

tried phone numbers off both web sites , both say "our office is currently closed" even though opening hours

Just got official e mail from CAA to say they that Elegant Travel ceased trading yesterday. I double checked my flights, which were in tact yesterday, but cancelled today at 3am. Flight now full.
C card will cover this but will take a while to fill forms and claim. I now need to re-book with no availability for flights or hotels. Feeling totally done over and disgusted. They weren't a cheap holiday Company. They were ATOL registered and had good reviews.
This seems a nightmare.
Thanks Browntoa for your help though. Sad outcome and wish I could say lesson learned but there isn't one really apart from sometimes 'you simply get had'.

It might be an idea if this thread be moved to the Overseas Travel forums so other MSE who might be impacted can see it.

There are also other companies with similar names so be careful that the closure of this business is not mixed up with ELEGANT RESORTS.
