Interesting one about the over order.

We bought carpet for 2 bedrooms from carpetright. They measured it up & placed the order.

When the fitter came out he said he couldn't understand why we had bought so much carpet as we didn't need so much. Ok what was left wouldn't do a full room, but there was a fair bit.


There's only 1 other carpet shop here i know of. We went there & wasn't keen on what we saw (carpet choice). In addition, carpets were left outside in the rain, dirty puddles etc. Also heard not so great things about their fitting too. I know many independents get a good write up, but not all.

In most cases you will be quoted the same quantity for carpet and underlay and obviously,unless the room is a dead square with no cutouts or waste,the amount of underlay is less.At the cost of underlay these days,it is the easiest way for companies to top up their profit.Also make sure you are getting the same quality you are paying for as manufacturers often make the same type in several qualities/thickness.
