Carpetright - carpet fitters & door trimmings

Just wondering if there's a flat charge or a per door charge?
Also would you entertain their carpet fitters trimming your doors?
We'll be having some 11mm underlay which i'm pretty sure will lead to the need to trim a bit off the bottom of the doors. Well, 2 doors at least.
I have access to a planer but it's not the best or the sharpest & i'm not the most gifted either.
Also would you need to book in through carpetright or ask the bloke on the day & pay a fee?
Yes i know i could ask carpetright, but at 11:45pm i don't think they'd answer & since i'll be up for work at 5:45am with my first decent break at 1:30pm i was just wondering if anyone reading this had actually had this done via carpet right & would be able to answer in time for me to check it on my break
Thanks.

Carpetright fitters "trimmed" 3 doors at daughters house after fitting carpets - made such a crap job of it she's looking at replacing the doors, and needless to say Carpetright don't want to know!0

Most carpet fitters will do it for a fee.
As others have suggested, carpetright doesn't have a great reputation though.0 -
Looks like I'll be having a bash myself then. Thanks.
I tackled 2 doors. Took a bit of time & I struggled getting them even but sort of managed it in the end & it finally cleared the carpet which was the aim. Doesn't look bad.
The other I took a little Nick out of it which I wasn't happy about but that'll just be my inexperience & by the time I was done it wasn't really noticeable.
Is there anyone here who can advise of any 'trick' to see exactly how much you need to take off other than taking off a few mm, trying it, another few mm, trying it, repeat 20 times & finally the job is done?0 -

Position the door with the hinges next to the place they should be screwed into and measure how far above the holes in the frame the holes in the hinges are. Allow for the door to be raised off the carpet and to clear the door bar.You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
We used carpet right about 5 years ago and at the time they said to carpet the hall, stairs landing we would need 33 sq mts of carpet. 5 years on they came out to measure and this time they said we need 48 sq mts of carpet.
Also to plane the doors £15.00 per door and to have the carpet delivered £29.00 even though we were arranging fitting through them.
However got in touch with a local carpet company and got a great deal and free delivery as standard.
Also we said to the dopey carpet right sales guy we were concerned buying a particular carpet because of our animals. Dopey replied "if it helps you can have it on four years free credit". Need I say more!0 -
I just had a carpet fitted and the fitters declined to trim either door into the room on the basis that the doors were expensive. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0

!
That could be possible if the carpets are patterned and they are trying, or having, to avoid a join or make a decent match at the top or bottom of the stairs. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -

We recently discovered a local independent. He beat the big carpet retailers on price (on a £90+ per sqm carpet) and his fitters were excellent. I have used them since for a £400 job and their service was again excellent. I wouldn't go anywhere else now.You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
CarpetRight often farm out the fitting work to independent local tradesmen whom you pay directly.
So whether or not those lads will do the extra work you ask of them is probably nothing to do with CR.
I found that the local lads were willing to do any extra unexpected work needed, for an extra fee (e.g. skimming, new grippers, etc)0
