    Timpsons has started doing tablet repairs, might give an honest appraisal. If the iPad has the newer tiny power socket that's attached to the mainboard, may not even be repairable.

    Well, blow me. I looked at a few You Tube videos and tried all the advice but nothing worked short term (ie within half an hour) however left it plugged in overnight and woke to find it had 87% power? How very odd but I'm delighted!

    Glad to here you're sorted! If this happens again, hold both the home button and power together until you see the logo. My iPod Touch was left plugged in for hours without charging, however, this fixed it for me. It did take a few minutes of holding though!
