Currency conversion question

Hello,
I went on holiday to France a few days ago and wanted to use my Halifax Clarity Credit Card. I loaded 100 pounds onto the card before I left the UK. At an ATM in Lille Station I withdrew 100 Euros and was charged 94.76 GBP - an exchange rate of 1GBP = 1.0552 Euro. I've called Halifax who say that this was just the rate at the time - I dispute this. Does anyone have any advice or do I just have to put up with it?!
Many thanks.

Halifax are wrong but it's your fault.
You've instructed the ATM to convert to £ rather than ensuring the transaction remained in € and letting Halifax do the conversion at the MasterCard rate.0 -
I seem to remember having a choice after putting in my pin...0
