Whatever you do, do not fly to Alderney from Southampton,the planes are small noisy and shake in a gust of wind and I think are also seriously expensive. I would strongly suggest Gatwick Jersey with BA, proper sized jet for those of a nervous disposition, usually just 35 minutes with good views of Southampton, the Isle of Wight and the tip of northern France. Just beware on landing, they put their feet on the brakes fairy sharpish.... Bus into town takes 30 minutes, spend the day in St Helier and then come home early evening.0
