Hi,
does anyone know the cheapest and shortest flights to go from Southampton or Gatwick? even if in the UK for a one day trip.

Southampton have a map here

Alderney looks to be the closest.0 -
Is the main priority cheap or short? If cheap, then short isn't always best, just go on ryanair and easyjet and see what the cheapest flights are. If short is the priority (fear of flying maybe?) then Easyjet do a fearless flying course that includes an experience flight, takes off and lands at Gatwick, takes less than an hour. That short enough?

I remember a friend flying from LGW to Jersey, to get some airmiles or similar reward point upgrade0

yes shortest and cheapest is priority in the next week ideally as got a 2-hour flight coming up to central europe, so want to get a short 1-hour-ish flight under my belt before then.0

I fly Newquay/Gatwick quite often and that is anything from 55 mins to 1hr 10 mins. That's with Flybe who are an Avios partner.0

Then you are making a huge step forward in trying to allay your fears, well done.
If you feel a short flight is best, then perhaps something within the UK would be best as the likelihood is that you will be flying over land rather than sea and have things to distract you.
Have a look on youtube for people who have posted videos about their flights. It might help explain how it all works. If you've not been on a plane then even the checkin can be daunting. Can you explain what part you feel nervous about?
Do try and enjoy it.0 -
Two hours won't seem very long, I don't like flying, and on a flight to Majorca which was a bit more than 2 hours it didn't seem long before we got off. By the time you get settled and then they bring round drinks, then duty free, then more drinks it's time to get off - time flies (if you pardon the pun!) The worst bit for me was the waiting around in the airport beforehand, I don't thing the length of time for that changes regardless of how long the flight is. Good Luck, I hope you enjoy it!0

I've done that several times as it counts as a European flight even though you don't need a passport or change any money. You can come back the same day but I usually get a B&B to make a weekend of it.0
