Personally, what I would do is return the letters to them giving the date you moved in and telling them to contact the previous owners of the property (they are liable for standing charges even if the property is empty).
Tell them you wish to make a complaint as you have informed them of this and you are being ignored. Not sure of the specifics of the complaint, but make sure they know you are complaining about it.
If you do this by mail you do not have to give any personal details of your account, if you want you do not have to give your name, just introduce yourself as the current occupier. Make sure you send the letter recorded delivery though, then you can find out online when it has been delivered.
