I have a o2 monthly contract for my 15 year old daughter. We are going to Majorca in two weeks.Do i just get her to switch off her mobile data when we are there and use wifi only,to stop incurring any charges? I also believe she will be charged if she txts from there aswell. Am i right bout this, have read the o2 website about travelling abroad and that mentions a£1.99 charge per day.

thanks

Scott

The £1.99 is an optional add on bundle. When activated the mobile is treated like it is in UK. Not really worth it unless your a heavy user?

You can receive calls & texts free in EU without the add on but are charged for outgoing

Switch OFF mobile data, Use Free Wifi which is everywhere

Youngsters are not txting anymore, they use Apps as above

Txts are too restrictive for photos, audio etc etc

Good idea - getting a non-capped contract for a minor and using roaming abroad . ;)

yes a capped contact such as Tesco with free summer roaming would be much better, but poster is already in a o2 contact

In Spain it's free to receive phone calls and SMS text messages on O2. If she makes certain the mobile phone data is turned off (you might be able to disable international data roaming via the network for her phone), then using an O2 phone in Spain is very cheap at the moment. Call costs are here:
    http://international.o2.co.uk/internationaltariffs/travelling_abroad

We call relatives on their PAYG O2 phone while they are in Spain, it costs us and them nothing  our call comes out of our free minutes...
