Buying house but plan is wrong

We are in the process of buying a house that is 5 years old but the plans have come back and it is for a different house. Because the house we are buying is down a small private drive with 3 other houses this is not on the plan. The solicitor has said we need a proper plan as it might be classed as a private road and charges might apply also that we would have problems selling if we didn't have a plan.
It is all rather confusing but has anyone had similar and if so how was it rectified. Also how long did it take to get the correct plan.

Who's sent the plan through? The LR? The vendor's solicitor? The local authority?
Your solicitor need to kick whoever it came from.0 -
As Adrian says, you need to clarify
* what Plan, and
* who supplied it
Is this
* a LR Plan? If so is it for one of the other properties in the road, or what?
* a Plan produced by the Developer when building the propert(ies)?
* a localAuthority Plan?
Did it come from the seller? Their solicirors?
Did you/your solictor obtain it direct from LR/LA etc?
You also saydown a small private drive with 3 other housesit might be classed as a private road0 -
All I know is that the original plan is the wrong one on the plot so needs to be sorted before we exchange as it can affect right of access and there might be charges for the use of a private road.
Confusing but I wondered how long it will take to resolve so we can exchange.0 -
I had a "wrong plan" (whatever that means).
I was furnished with the original 1970s sketches for a proposed house, with some kind of "approved" stamp from the local authority. The existing house doesn't exactly match the proposed design.
I did not "sort it" - the house is what it is.
You need to elaborate on what "the wrong one" means. Do you mean that there is a plan of the local area or the street and the house you are buying is not the one highlighted in the drawing?0 -

We have no idea what the problem actually is, and it doesn't sound like you do either, so I doubt anyone here can offer you useful advice beyond letting the solicitors sort it out.0 -
"Wrong plan" means absolutely nothing!
Is the layout plan for the house incorrect? This isn't that unusual as I know of a case where a pair of semis were built of a similar size but of different design and appearance from the plans submitted for pp. Later regularised with council.
Is the plan of the plot wrong, shows smaller or larger?
Is the location plan wrong, shows house in wrong position?If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

I suggest you find out!
Supplementary question: Is this a registered or unregistered property?0 -
The plot to show the boundaries is not for my house . It is a house further up the estate.0

2) Inform your solicitor and instruct him to obtain the correct Plan.
Timescale to resolve? A week? 6 months?
(or somewhere in between).0 -
Do you think it might be as simple as someone misfiling something/ posting the wrong one out? That would be the most obvious thing. If it really is that simple then it's as long as it takes for someone to find the correct one and send it to you.
