Broken Lawnmower

Hi everyone
I have a bosch rotak 32r mower which I bought about 3 years ago, there was a problem that the grass chippings were all left in the garden and not getting collected, so I checked online and ordered new blades thinking its the blades. After trying to replace the blade for long enough, I gave up and started mowing but now when the blades are rotating there is a very weird sound coming from inside like something is stuck. It was working fine, it did half the garden and then just would not spin the blades, its like something is stuck inside.
Any suggestions please.
I did put wd40 on the screw to loosen it a little but that never happened, in the end it has almost gone bald so I dont know how will I get the new blade on as well.

Can you turn the blade by hand (make sure the mower is unplugged from the mains when you do this). If you can't, it's possible the bearings in the motor have failed, but this would be unusual after only 3 years of use.

Yes it moves with or without power on, the blades move is slower compared to the normal speed and making weird noise inside.

Is something like a wire or plastic string etc stuck in the shaft connecting the blade to motor?

What kind of screw is it? you may be able to saw a slot in the end using a small (junior) hacksaw for a flat blade screwdriver, or you could try a pair of grips on the outside of the screw such as mole grips.
  • slow blade movement and the unusual noise it generates could be a sign of blockage or probably a loose part.
  • something might have gone loose. carefully check the parts. If unsure, get professional help

These guys are among a number who've just signed up, placing a middle letter in their username. They've all made 2 posts, speak as if they come from across the pond and don't have much of substance to say.

Does anyone else think 'they' are a new kind of 'bot, or am I just paranoid? :o

There is a good possibility that the screw in question has a left hand thread and if this is the case you have to rotate it clockwise to undo it.
If you still have the instruction manual then you should look in this, if not, check online.
