Hi, you may want to ask the relevant board guides to merge your duplicate threads as it is a bit confusing to have the same question on several forums.
I can offer no further advice than that posted elsewhere, sorry.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. A friend of mine wanted to do the same thing. On e-bay...no luck....through the local paper...no luck. Then a lady called (had seen ad in the local paper) from a wedding dress shop. Basically she bought wedding dresses and then sold them on - you would get the price she sold it for less £50 that you paid up front. The only thing is, you wouldn't get your money until the other bride had paid in full. So, they might have put a deposit down on it for a wedding that was happening in 2 years time, so you wouldn't see the money till 2 years down the line. I would call your local dress agency if you wanted to go down this route - look up in yellow pages. They might even have a wedding dress specialist agency. My friend didn't end up doing it because she needed the money there and then. Needless to say, 2 years on, the dress is still boxed in her loft!!!
I have had mine vacuum packed and its in my loft. My sister wore my mum's wedding dress (well part of it anyway! It was chopped up a bit to make it a bit more modern), but it was lovely. I know its a long way off but if my daughter wanted my dress I'd be well chuffed. Must be honest, I haven't got the heart to do anything else with it. I nearly chopped it up for a christening gown, but again, couldn't bring myself to do it!
Good luck though. I think the dress agency will be your best bet. x0 -

Hi loulou,
I have moved your thread over to the ebay board so that it can be merged with your other thread on the same topic because we are discouraged from posting duplicate posts on MSE as it can cause confusion.

One thing I have heard of people doing.. is you can get your dress all chopped up and made into a picture on a canvass! sounds horrible, but apparently looks really good! xxI

I ended up with 2 wedding dresses (Long story - don't ask!) and put one on eBay and I started the dress at £300.00 buy it now and found people wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Really couldn't understand why as it was a gorgeous dress but was a season old (I originally purchased it in a sale).
Anyway, I needed the money from the old dress to help cover the cost of the new one I had purchased, so I done the unthinkable and started the dress at.... 99p! Everyone thought I was mental but I stuck with it and by the end of the auction, 7 days later, my dress had reached £477.67! I was well chuffed!0
