Benefits help

Hi,
I've been out of work a few years now and am currently looking into getting a job at 30 Hrs but trying to find out what benefits I can get to bolster my income.

Situation, recieving:
*Single
*No children
*Not caring for anyone or being cared for
*Income based Jobseekers
*Full housing benefit
*Reduced council tax
No other benefits

Possible Job:
£216 per week
30 Hours per week.

I've been using a few benefit calculators like the combined entitled_to website and invidual Working Tax Credit and Housing Benefit calculators but they seem to be giving me conflicting results.

I know I'll get 25% off my Council tax but does anyone know what kind of Housing benefit and Working tax credit I can expect because the calculators make no sense. The Goverment one said something like £55 a week yet £900 a year, which doesn't add up. Another says £15 per week.

Thanks.

Tax credits would depend on why your income was last tax year and expected income for this tax year.

    42 years old.
No income last year other than Jobseekers benefits of around £3,800.
This years income as stated in original post. £11,232 Per year.

    Thanks.

But you won't be working for the full tax year.

Is there a reason why you aren't looking for a full time job?

The job is full time 30hrs per week. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Could you take on a second job then? Full time does vary job to job but 30hrs still leave plenty of time.

Unlikely it's shifts so days vary week to week. I dare say I could work 24hrs 7 days a week but these are the hours I can get now. I'm entitled to Working tax credit and or Housing benefit reduction at these hours. so just want to know how much.

You'd need to know your income for this tax year then. As I said, the figure you have quoted would be for a full year.

    That's not full time.

It's the same down the job center. Nobody knows anything. No wonder people find it so hard getting back in to work when there is no clear guides or help.
