Updating BIOS

My previous thread is about Windows 10 upgrade.
While preparing for this I noticed there is an upgrade to my PC BIOS (which is suitable for windows 10)
Should I upgrade the BIOS before or after the upgrade?

If it's not broken I wouldn't unless it's essential like ensuring compatibility with newer GPUs/CPU's which you are going to use.
I updated my Bios once and it bricked the motherboard despite following all instructions for installing it. Had to go through a lot of headache to revert it back before it worked"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

In many years of updating BIOSes, even when it was messy, I've never had a problem - YMMV, of course!0

DO NOT buy an intel NUC then , 5 bios updates so far this year , 8 last year , all have improved performance ,
however intel , unlike a lot of board makers make this such a simple task , and even if you do manage to "brick it" , simply reboot with the last bios on a pendriveSave a Rachael

By that logic you would never update your mobile phone firmware then which often contains important security and stability updates.
Motherboards have long since dispensed with the "BIOS" in favour of UEFI which is a great deal more complicated and thus leaks security vulnerabilities that require patching:

I tried that with mine once ...
It told me that I couldn't install an older BIOS over a new one!0 -
Guys thanks for your comments on my post.
I'm in trouble and it's all gone wrong!
I downloaded the file from the Asus website, copied onto a usb and through the boot tools go to the EZ flash tool. Did it, got the message successfully installed and then it rebooted and cannot load windows. Startup repair is useless and takes hours but I have let it run and even gone back to the restore point.
Any ideas?0
