Done something wrong? results.
income related esa. £173.65 we get £309 a fortnight for both of us.
housing benefit £96.50 which is all the rent we pay.
then it says PIP which is £55.10 which i have just started receiving.
no mention of council tax?.
I took your ESA from this post.
Difficult to know whether your ESA is correct or not.
Suggest you put your information into the benefit calculator on https://www.entitledto.co.uk (without your wife claiming CA) to check if your ESA is correct.
Or go to CAB for a benefits check up.0 -
Is there a lower rate ESA that i maybe on that coincides with the £309 a fortnight?
Thank you so much for helping.0 -

Have just realised that the figure I used was what you got from the benefits calculator, sorry - read too quickly.
Have you got savings over £6000?
Have you got any private pensions?
Were you transferred from Incapacity Benefit/Income Support to ESA?
Which group of ESA are you in? Support group or WRAG group?
Have you got your ESA award letter?
If you post what it says about what you are receiving then we might be able to check.0 -
Yes i was on incapacity benefit and have no idea on which ESA, when it switched i had an interview at the job centre and he was probably shocked that i didnt play it worse than it was. its always in my mind that there are people worse off than me. I get a quick phone call once or twice a year and thats it.
no savings, we did have a couple of thousand when it all started but thats gone now. no private pensions either.
I do not remember receiving an award letter, we rarely receive any paperwork which is a pain when i had dentists visits who wanted paperwork within the last 6 months. 1 letter in april is about all i get.
it was 4 years before i was told that i could claim my parking fee back at the hospital.
Thank you for the help.0 -

Make an appointment with CAB or a welfare adviser as your ESA does not seem correct to me based on what you have said.
I may be wrong though but best to get it checked as people who transferred from IB were sometimes not assessed (money wise) correctly.
They will be able to telephone Job Centre Plus and check which group you are in and whether you should have been awarded any extra money.
I really cannot comment any further without knowing what group you are in.
Plus, once your wife gets Carer's Allowance you need to have another benefits check to see if you would be better off with your wife claiming Income Support for you both which she could do once she has been awarded CA.
So, in a nutshell go and have a benefits check now and then again after your wife gets CA.0 -

Have you applied for a HC2 for free prescriptions, dental and glasses
http://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/HealthCosts/1136.aspx0 -
Yes we get free prescriptions, i just tick the box on income support. I dont have an exemption card or anything like that. i know my sister had a card when she was unemployed for a while.
What/Who is a welfare advisor? where would i find one of those?.
If i have been underpaid will i get that back? seems like i have missed out on a lot because i just fill the forms in they send and i dont exaggerate my condition. and do not query the reults.
Thank you so much, i really appreciate this.
ps. will the lady at the job centre who phones me once or twice a year know what group i am in? or do i need to speak to someone else?
thank you0 -
You can find your local CAB by using the search function at the bottom of this link
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/how-we-provide-advice/advice/
They may have a welfare adviser and, anyway, should be able to help you0 -
Unless its moved i know where the (almost local) CAB is, unless its moved.
One of the places where you need to make an appointment and not just turn up and hope to be seen.
I will pop in and see if i can get an appointment.
Thank You all.0 -
a quick post before bed, i found a letter from the job centre saying work focused interviews.
Thats the 30 second phone call i get once or twice a year.
Can i post links?
i found this which says £143.90 or £151.05 for couples?
