Need a shower timer

Can someone let me know where to buy one of these at a good price to cut down the time my son spends in the shower? They're a tenner plus postage for a little plastic one on some of the 'Green' websites but I think that's a bit pricey. My local water company (NI) doesn't give them out free, as suggested on some of the other threads. Thanks

essex water were giving these away earlier this year, they came round with a big water saving pack, beaker for water while u brush your teeth, timer, flush saver, hose pipe attachment for the garden.... might be worth ringing your local water company.Duct tape is like the force. Thanks to you both. I'd already visited this site but the timer, inc postage is just short of a tenner. My local water company in Northern Ireland doesn't do freebies - we don't yet pay for water separately, although it makes up a proportion of our household rates bill, so this may be the reason why they are not offering any incentives to us. Or maybe they're just tight!0

Can't you just flush the loo / run the washing up water when you think he's had long enough? That would get the message across ...
Not sure how these shower timers work: would be very inconvenient if the water went off when your hair was full of shampoo. (Our shower broke when DS3's LONG hair was in this position. Mind you that was when someone flushed the loo so take the advice above with caution if it's an electric shower ...)
Alternatively would a large, loud mechanical timer do the trick?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Polly I have the exact same problem with my son too! He drives me mad and I have no idea what he does in there 'cos I don't think it's washing. He just stands there "getting warm" I think
I have tried the turning the taps on downstairs while turning on both the dishwasher and washing machine and watering the garden...nothing works!

OK, next suggestion, take the locks off the door ... :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0

Ours are off already.....how else do you think I can stand there and shout at him to get a move on and know he don't wash!

:rotfl: Sounds like tough love to me!! Will try all of the above with due regard to his safety and welfare but still searching for a timer. He argues that 'it couldn't possibly be 5 minutes yet' and a timer would let him see for himself. Will keep looking.0

What about a standard kitchen timer - these cost about £1. Just turn it to the number of minutes and it lets off a bell.0

B&Q were giving them away, at the showrooms dept. a couple of months ago. They may still have some, so if you are in, might be worth asking?0
