in Water bills
Hi guys,
I moved last year and ever since out water bills soared. We (family of 3) used to pay about £60-80 in water charges every 6 months. That has doubled on the new property, giving a figure of about 350 liters a day on average.
I spend half of my time away, my partner normally takes showers at work, so that leaves our daughter. We dont have a bath (shower only) or use water on the backyard.
We do an average of 1 cloth wash a day (60L), have a small dish washer that works once every 3 days (uses about 20L) and we even save the shower water while waiting for the hot water to come, to use in the toilet.
So what could possibly be driving our bills so high?
Our meter is equipped with a wireless transceiver which the wather company reads remotelly. The reads match, but the transciever covers all the dials, except the numbers for the meter reading, so a small leak is virtually unoticed.
What do you guys think?

350 litres a day is 128 cubic metres a year which is below average consumption for a family of 3.
You don't say where you live - is it the same company? Do you pay for surface water drainage in the new house?
However bills of £120 to £160 every 6 months(double £60 to £80) is not high.0 -
Did you move from a house where the water bills were based on Rateable Value ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
