Paypal account "limited" - some questions

My PayPal account is approx 16 years old and I have had to verify about 3 times now. The first time was the usual 'reached the unverified limit' but twice since then I've been asked for additional info. It is standard and a search will show that many people have been through this. It was a lot simpler than the Amazon process that took me around 3 months in total with them refusing every bit of info I supplied!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I had my account limited the other day due to fraud on my account by a fraudster this happened same day I used a well known Chinese site who I have used several times before scammer had a Chinese name
I had to send Paypal copy of my road license, confirm my bank details, change password, and finally screen grab of my anti virus scan no virus or malware on my pc assuming several programs I have are correct
My account was reinstated same day and I got my full £182 back0 -
They asked for a screengrab of a virus scan? A full scan on my system can take 2 days
I could always scan a VM window and they wont know the difference, and it will only take minutes, even if i have to install one.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
As you have no idea what my limits are, I am struggling to see how you have come to the conclusion "it's fairly obvious you've reached the limit". The only limits are for receiving funds and a quick check of my account shows that I have the full quota available.
Excellent post. Remind me why you came on here again?
There are limits for sending and receiving funds. You can have those limits lifted but you have to supply what Paypal require. There are also limits for other reasons, namely legislation. There are withdrawal and redeeming limits too. I never said I knew what your limits were, what I said, is that you clearly have reached one of the limits on your account. As for your previous comments about money laundering crap, that is clearly some cop out as the account was "verified" over 6 years ago and has functioned fine for both buying and selling ever since .
As I said, it's not all about buying/selling, it's more likely you have reached another limit, that could be withdrawal/redemption limits. You agree to comply with our requests to verify your identity before we redeem E-money to you to allow us to reduce the risk of fraud or to otherwise comply with our anti-money laundering or other legal obligations.I have spoken to several friends to ask if they've had the same message and not a dickybird. None of them have had to provide photo ID and their accounts are working just fine so it's clearly nothing to do with money laundering regs.
Perhaps the posts by the other users who explain that verification isn't a 'one time only' process with Paypal may help you realise that being 'verified' can mean very little with Paypal. It's their tune, you either sing it or you don't.Anyway I have better things to do than argue with a Paypal apologist. My question was answered by someone else and that's all I needed to know.
It may be prudent to brush up on your wider understanding of Paypal and Ebay, particularly when you come to sell your 'fairly rare item' as it's clear in your OP that there are some potential issues. Have a read of the stickies at the top of this forum in relation to postage and collection items. The authors of those have written them to help people like you protect yourselves from the scammers/technicalities of Paypal etc. I wouldn't call that being a Paypal apologist.I would like to sell a fairly rare item on Ebay which will need a wide audience to attract the best price and so will probably need sending to them. This will mean that I'll have to allow Paypal for payment rather than cash on collection0 -

As you don't seem to want to accept any advice being given here, it would be prudent of you to contact paypal yourself and find out what the reason for the limit is rather than expecting others to spend their time trying to help someone so ungrateful.0 -
Takes around an hour on my system that's a full system scan of 3 drives one SSD 120GB and 2 x 2 TB HD using avast premier.forgotmyname wrote: »They asked for a screengrab of a virus scan? A full scan on my system can take 2 days
