Last night's sleep was a little better. Tonight though..........well I'm on here now :rotfl:

I spent £86 yesterday  I stocked up with winter jumpers/tunics in a size and 2 sizes bigger ready for after I have the baby. I hated wearing maternity clothes after having ds so figured some oversized jumpers and jeggings were the way to go. I ordered them all from matalan, so I have 2-3 times the amount of things than if I'd ordered from next!

I'm supposed to be working today, but I'm so glad I cancelled my overtime now. I'll hopefully manage to snooze a bit later!

£29.29 payout from topcashback has reached my account. I also made an eBay sale, so but after eBay and PayPal fees have been left with pennies :rotfl: I've got 3 surveys on prolific waiting to become payable, and once they are I'll be able to request a payout. I'm also waiting patiently (ha!) for more topcashback transactions to become available. I've got around £80 waiting there.

I've tried checking my Tesco credit card, but the site is down for maintenance. My blanace is currently at around £450 and there is another fortnight until my payday. I'm determined to keep it low this month!!

I managed a little snooze earlier. That was until the water company text to say that there'd been a burst pipe in the area so I didn't have any water. It's good that they let people know........but I was asleep :( The water is back now so all sorted! :)

I've packaged the item I sold on ebay up. Other than that I've done very little today. I've got a bad head and I've been having braxton hicks on and off all day so I'm very pleased I cancelled my overtime. I think I may cancel next week as well. The money is nice, but if dh sees me really struggling by the end of the week he'll take time off to look after ds for me, which then means we've actually lost more money than I've earned.

I've also had another look at my grocery budget and changed it about a bit (again) just because I think I'd prefer home delivery at the moment instead of pushing a trolley around the supermarket and then filling it with lots of extra treats. I just meant balancing out how much was budgeted for each week so that there's enough each week to cover the minimum grocery spend. I'll pop to tesco tomorrow, and then after that I'll have it delivered now.

My mortgage payment is due to go out tomorrow and I'm desperate to know whether it is the new amount or whether I have to wait until next month for that. I really hope it's the new amount tomorrow, which will free up almost £130. It will make up for the overtime I've cancelled.

Mortgage payment has gone out and it was the new amount :j That meant I had around £120 spare! Most of that has been put into saving, though I did add a little to the Christmas food fund, and a little to our grocery shop this week and next week which means I'll be able to get home delivery as I'll have over £40 to spend.

My emergency fund is now up to £10, and I also have £92 in an isa. I'm keeping it there until I see how much my pay is this month. I've worked out that I'll be due another tax rebate which usually comes in my pay cheque. If I do get it then we'll have enough money for November, if I don't then that £92 will make up for it. If I don't need to touch it, then in November I'll transfer £40 of it to the emergency fund, and the rest can stay in the isa ready for any unexpected new baby spends. I remember after having ds we spent. A little with just extra trips to Tesco for treats, and buying a few unexpected last minute bits. I'd rather have the money there than have to juggle around and take out from the emergency fund.

I'm going to work on my 2017 goals today, after seeing purplemum do hers. Fab idea!

Spending wise today.......I'm doing the Tesco shop. I'm budgeting £35 for that. After that we are taking ds to see a pre school show this morning (it was his birthday present and already paid for) but if time is tight between it finishing and school than we'll buy something quick for lunch.

    2017 Goals

    • Save £1000 in my emergency fund,
    • Survive maternity leave without adding to my debts,
    • Enjoy maternity leave without taking on extra work (I ended up tutoring and making crafts last time),
    • Find a part time (preferably permanent) job at the end of my maternity leave,
    • Stick to grocery and gift buying budgets.

I've started my 2017 goals. I'll edit the post and update as I think of things!!

Tesco came in at £29.90 so £5.10 under target :j We did buy lunch on the way home, which was a little over £5, but that came from the cash I'd already taken out of our accounts and shows as spent on YNAB. I did then spend £15.99 online at New Look. It's getting colder and I'm not really wanting to buy lots of winter maternity things so I ordered a couple of long sleeve tshirts that I can layer under my short sleeve tops. One black and one navy so they should go with anything!

We had a slow cooker meal this evening. Balsamic braised beef. It is one of my favourite slow cooker meals so far. There's plenty left over for tomorrow as well.

Ds really enjoyed his show this morning, but was shattered this evening! He was in bed with lights out by 6:45 and hasn't made a noise since!

  • Evening,

Good call on cancelling the overtime it's is a totally different ball game second time around isn't it. You can't just stop when you want/need to!

Your goals look good for next year. I think we're both in the same boat over preparing for when the tiredness and bad decisions start creeping into our brains. We can do this! Maternity leave will not break us!!!

I can't believe it's Thursday already. Time is flying by!

I need to attack the laundry today. I should also really do a little more with the hospital bags! I've had an email to say my matalan things are on their way so will be able to pack one of the bigger tops in my hospital bag to wear home with a pair of maternity leggings.

I've promised to take ds to the library at some point today, so may make the trip down after school. It should be a nsd today.

I have seen, though, that Morrisons have 20 cans of Carling for £10. I may pick up a couple tomorrow and store away ready for Christmas.

I've already checked ynab and my accounts this morning. Everything is up to date.

    Hi MrsSave

Loving your blog :) Me and my OH are hoping to get pregnant (first fertility clinic apt soon) and its nice to read a getting ready for maternity blog as this is the most thing I am worried about!

I am the breadwinner out of me and OH and maternity pay scares the hell outta me haha!

Can I just ask about the slow cooker all in 1 prep bags, is this something u can buy? and do you literally put meat/veg all in one bag together and freeze?

Look forward to reading more, Amy x
