So I should refund now even though they told me to wait 8 days? Why would they tell me to wait if that's not in my best interest. Ebay are, frankly, c***p at giving advice.Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!0

When a case is open you need to ascertain if you can win it or not. With INR it is easy as a seller. If you have online tracking showing delivery you will win it, if you don't, you won't. There is no grey area.
If you get an INR it is always best to contact the buyer, apologise for the delay and ask them to confirm the delivery address - to make sure neither of you has made an error, check with neighbours in case the parcel has been left, you could ask them to check with their delivery office but I prefer to do that myself, letting them know I will be doing it. If all that has been done and the parcel due date has been and gone and there is no sign of the parcel, then I would refund. If you don't get any response from the buyer it is best to refund just before day 8. But with the exception of you having tracking, then you should NEVER wait until day 8 to refund it should ALWAYS be done before.0 -
Thanks for the advice everyone.
I sent two messages to the buyer regarding checking their address and asking them to wait the required number of days for RM to officially declare it a lost parcel but I didn't hear anything back from them, despite them being an active seller themselves. I issued a refund so it's over for them and I'll just see what happens with the claim my end. Not very hopeful after the advice here. Can't wait for the tracking thingy to kick in!Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!0 -

As stated earlier, I suspect you have very little chance of getting a refund from RM. the claim form for eBay sales requires you to send not only details of the eBay sales to prove value (assuming you are a private seller) but also proof of posting.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. What exactly would the seller be reporting the buyer for though? Claiming INR is not an issue, nor is not responding to seller requests via the dispute console.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If they are genuine no harm done, but a person regularly active on eBay who doesn't bother to reply to the case is worth reporting IMHO.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0

If a seller responded to the case telling me I had to wait out the time limit for a RM claim I would ignore them as well. Once a case is opened the buyer has no obligation to respond further .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Agree with this. Item did not arrive after two weeks from big business seller. Sent message, no response after three days. Opened a case for not received, seller responded with a long list of rules that I had to wait a further 15 working days, I was not allowed to close the case without contacting them first, I had to send them proof that the address on Ebay was correct.... I did not bother responding and just escalated it and got a refund.
Really some sellers really need to think about the way they deal with customers.0 -

Up to you really, but it's a two way street, if a problem arises the customer's cooperation helps with an easy resolve.
But if the buyer is asked to confirm their address and can't be bothered to reply I report them.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
