Exchanged but property relisted by EA

Hi all,
I'm a first time buyer and have just exchanged (last Tuesday) on a property that will complete this coming Wednesday.
However a friend of mine contacted me yesterday asking why the house I'm buying has been relisted that day on Rightmove as up for sale.
My partner called the the Estate Agent in question, who laughed as they told my partner they were expecting our call and that it was a glitch, they went on to say they were doing some marketing on their website and that our house would be taken down once update.
Today, I check Rightmove expecting the house to save been put back as sstc, only to see its still up as available.
Was wonder whether anyone has experienced this before or have any thoughts that may be useful? As I have exchanged on it, do I have any rights in telling them to have it down immediately?
Thanks
-Kay

I'd be having very strong words with the EA out of principle.0

I've heard of them putting them back on so they get calls and can direct them to other properties0

NO, you don't have ay rights to have it taken down. You are not the Agent's client. Their own client, your seller, *may* be able to get them to take it down.
But as you have already exchanged it won't disadvantage you anyway. Your sellers are legally obliged to complete the sale to you.All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
Hi, thanks all.
Yeah, my thinking was that it wasn't a glitch at all, but a ploy to get some leads on contact details for buyers.
Maybe I shouldn't be angry about it as it will still be sold to me, but it's a real dirty trick and it was a real shock to see the home that I've been waiting for months to complete to be showing as on the market.
I guess if it's still up on completion day I'll tell them to take it down.
Thanks again.0 -
It's either a glitch, or they're touting for business.
In any case, it's not "your business" as you're not their client. You're also "safe" as you've exchanged, so nothing "bad" can occur now.
Just forget/ignore it.0 -
Don't worry about it. You've exchanged so the house is yours0

As above, they are probably baitingChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

The house I bought was still advertised on RM for about 3 months after I moved in! The For Sale sign was taken down by me the day I moved in and collected about 3 months later.
EA..... not that efficient in my view! Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
First world problems?
`Angry`?
Get a grip and move on (or in as the case will be)Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -

Well it may not be on a par with the refugee crisis but why compare it other than to make a fatuous point (which you did well). The estate agent is behaving poorly here and there is no reason not contact them and tell them to desist. I agree with others that little actual harm will come of it.0
