Does this mean that they won't now join the EU?

    Might be a minor setback!

If it succeeds, they will not join for a long time to come.

Why would you want a coup?

I've wanted a military takeover for ages as it's such a shame that Erdogan has been taking further to Islamic extremes and acting like a Dictator

The hope is the military will resume control and a decent moderate more secular government is established

Egypt recently did this when the military threw out the Muslim Brotherhood

IMO quite the reverse, a moderate secular society is much more to EU tastes

I'm finding it more disturbing that Labour MP's are claiming this is because of Brexit on twitter.

Has Labour HQ turned into a crack den?

The Brexit team assured us they would. So it must be true :D

Yes but for how long? I doubt a risk averse EU27 would all vote for it. Too much uncertainty.

Let's see, 80 million people, massive economy, major NATO power.

And I have to chose between supporting a headbanger like Erdogan, or a military junta.
Can we have a referendum on that..._
