Business Class Flight Advice

Hi,

I hope this is in the right section.

Looking to treat myself to a Business Class flight for a flight to Thailand (Ultimate destination Koh Phangan).

Flights seem to be £1600+

I'm looking for advice on

a) Getting a good price
b) Maximising Cashback etc

I want to get value for money, so I realise the cheapest may not be the best and would like to fly on one of the better Business Classes rather than cheap and cheerful.

I will be purchasing two tickets.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Get on to the British airways section of flyertalk and ask there. You could knock £600 off the price.

You have not indicated the dates you wish to travel, but you can get some excellent prices with Qatar if you are prepared to fly from mainland Europe. Last year, you could get to Bangkok for around the £900 mark in certain months.

Yes, there is the inconvenience and cost of positioning flights and a layover in Doha, but many may feel the effort is worthwhile and QR's business class blows BA's club world out of the water.

If you do decide to go for BA's Club World, keep your expectations at a sensible level.

http://www.trailfinders.com/flights/bangkok#business has £1079 but doesn't say which airline.

Consider Eva air one way in business (night sector) the other in premium economy.

Btw an airport is being built on Kho Pha Ngan.

You can get Etihad for £1180 - albeit from Amsterdam and will involve a layover in Abu Dhabi or there is a Norwegian service (in a 787) direct from Stockholm for £800.....although I have no idea the standard of business class service on the latter......I suspect you will get what you pay for.

I agree with dickydonkin, if you're prepared to get a positioning flight to mainland Europe, you could get a great deal.

We went to Sydney in January in business class on Qatar out of Stockholm for approx £2k return each. Admittedly we used Avios for our BA positioning flights which kept the costs down but QR's business class is fantastic, better than F on BA in my opinion.

We've booked a trip to Kuala Lumpar in February again on QR in business but out of Helsinki, Avios used for BA flights & overnight stay, cost was under £1400 each return on QR.

Have a look on their site & play around with routings or as suggested, look at Etihad, we looked at them but opted for QR as their layover times were a bit better suited for us.

I've been looking at Etihad from Amsterdam, which is about £1200 return and their Business Class looks very good.

Looks like an overnight stay in Amsterdam for us...

Don't limit yourself to Amsterdam, have a good look. We flew out of Helskini last month and Milan 4 months ago. Those flights were sub 1K to the Caribbean on BA CW and VS UC.

Sign up to HeadforPoints emails each day (you get 3) and they are full of tips on collecting avios/hotel deals/flight prices. That's were I got the Milan flight info from.
