Warning: Amazon hacked account
Comments

Well since changing my email password, setting up an email account just for Amazon purchases and Amazon password there has not been any more unusual activity.
However Amazon fraud has still not contacted me as promised!

Give them chance it has only been five days, they are probably investigating it fully before making any decision or contacting you back.0

They did promise 48 hours and now I still have not heard.
Annoyingly, one of the orders I got removed from my account has re-appeared with the Dutch delivery address on it.
So far no charge against my bank as the hacker had managed to create an imaginary gift card for my account and somehow kept topping it up without payment coming from my card?
Sorry that MSE didn't feature this (as I had requested) as up to 80,000 customers affected. Also no reply from Martin on Twitter.

Amazon denies hack claim

Amazon is denying the claims made by a miscreant who leaked online what looked like 80,000 customer records swiped from an Amazon Kindle server.
The database contains email addresses, hashed passwords, debug logs and other information supposedly taken from a hacked Amazon system. But the web giant says the info didn't come from its machines.Any information given in my posts or replies is intended to be of interest and/or help to members of the forum. Having told Amazon many times about the fraud on my account with no reply and then telling them that the hackers somehow set up a gift card and added credit to it, I had no reply.
Yesterday I wanted to make a purchase and there was still credit on the fake gift card. I made my purchase and the balance of the gift card was automatically used, so decent earphones for £8!

How can it be fake if it seems to be possible to use it on Amazon to make a purchase??"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I think that's the point ... OP has used the "gift card" balance. I suspect he's hoping Amazon will query the order and payment method, whereupon OP can tell them "See? I told you so!"0

The fraud was somehow committed by creating a gift card on my account and giving it credit (not from my payment methods) and altering the delivery address to one in Holland.
I stopped access to my account when there was still a balance on the gift card.
I wanted to make a legitimate purchase, and had told Amazon about the gift card, and the only way to do this automatically used up the fraudster's gift card balance.
The PS to this is that the headphones were useless and I returned them. Amazon have today put the total cost (gift card balance and bank payment) back onto a gift card!
