Know How Care Plan

I paid £630 for a Miele with a free 10 year warranty. Thought it was a good deal at the time. Problem is I can't imagine buying any other brand now. The previous machine used to bounce around and make an awful noise. The Miele is whisper quiet and you have to look at the lights to make sure it's on.0

To be fair, you've had a machine for ten years and "painlessly" paid for a new one in that period. If you had had no extended warranty, would you honestly have found it easy to quickly find the money for a replacement? If so, your warranty was a waste of money, if not you've had a reasonable deal.I agree I won't take out another plan but was never expecting the machine to last 10 years and once you start paying you are wary of stopping in case the machine then breaks down.0 -
Years ago I went around the house with a price list of extended warranties I had printed from the web and started pricing up how much I would be paying if I had the warranty on all my main appliances. I could easily have replaced a major appliance every year for less than the warranties would have cost.Exactly, will nobody learn how much a waste of money these extended warranty/service schemes are.
I am willing to take the risk. My Hotpoint oven and hob have just been replaced after 16 years (not because they failed but because we redid the kitchen); my Hotpoint washing machine failed after 14 years; my Creda tumble dryer failed after 10 years (replaced by a Hoover tumble dryer 6 years ago); my Hotpoint dishwasher is now 16 years old and still going strong; my Beko fridge lasted 9 years; my previous Iceland freezer lasted 11 years and was replaced with a whirlpool in in 2011 and the cream of the crop is my Hotpoint fridge/freezer (kept in the garage) was bought in 1996 and is still going strong
Look at the cost of warranties on those items alone, on a per year basis, and you will see that I would have been out a fortune.
Now if only I could get a toaster to last for more then 4 years

It would have been painless had I actually managed to get anywhere with getting it replaced. Having been told it will be replaced I'm still waiting for someone to contact me and am going round in circles between Currys & Hotpoint with no one helping. I don't have an issue if these plans are dealt with properly but no-one seems to want to help.0 -

Where did you buy it from? At this price I can only find ones with a 5 year warranty0
