RT with Quote on Twitter

Options
Twitter recently changed how you can RT a post you can do the normal Retweet but now you can also RT with a quote.
The question I have is regarding comps that ask you to RT and reply with an answer. does anybody RT the Tweet then send separate tweet to reply or use the quote tweet facility to answer the question?

I've wondered what the difference is too.

I've just assumed the retweet inc. comment goes to your followers & reply goes the host of the comp. So I do both

I doubt even most of the promoters know. I'm sure many of them actually still mean reply when they say RT (just wrongly trying to use the lingo) much like the ones that say RT and follow... on facebook.

I did see a comp yesterday though that specifically asked for a quote retweet...

That's my thinking but you can tag the host of the competition in the quote. Just wondered if it's classed as a Retweet doing that.

When you do a quote rt it doesn't colour in the rt button iyswim so if they click on that to see the rters then you're not going to be noticed. If they pick a winner by loading up the tweets containing a hashtag then you'd be picked up either way (I think).

If they ask for a rt and a comment then I do a regular rt and then comment on their tweet.
Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!

How do you do a quote retweet - this doesn't mean anything to me at all?

When you click the retweet symbol on Twitter you have the option to just retweet (so simply share the tweet) or to quote tweet, which allows you to add your own text as well as quote the tweet you clicked to retweet.

It has been there for a while, not a new thing. Are you on a mobile app or computer?
