If you want to make it legal, contact planning about your ideas and see what they say. Also speak to building control to see what they recommend.
Once you have all of this you can press forwards knowing exactly what you can and can't do. Don't trust builders as many don't care about this side of things. almost anything can be built, but not everything SHOULD be built!0 -

Which elements and why not? so far i have:
1. If i have the drop kerb signed off - tick
2. measure so no light is block in my window and neighbors i.e. 7/8th Step down for the wall - tick
3. Build wall lower than the pavement height so will not require planning permission
4. Use Block Paving as it is a permeable solution (planning permission not needed) - tick
5. Have a drain underground or Soakaway (which is the main reason councils dont like theses things) - tick

I rather read the regs. normally they have a 12weeks waiting list and I'm not doing nothing to break the planning permission laws so rather not.0 -
