Driveway Ideas

You will need some kind of fall protection as the 'drive' will be right next to a public footpath. You will need to protect 'anyone' that may stray onto that drive including you or your guests.
Have you got a picture example i don't think i have ever seen this railing your on about on someones driveway?0 -
I really can't see how yours will be feasible. Your pavement height (and I'm only going from your photos) is at bedroom window level and theirs appears to be at sitting room level. Or are the photos showing it to the extreme. What height difference is your pavement to theirs roughly?0

I think phil is referring to the open part of your potential wall height would need some protection as otherwise someone could walk past and fall down 10feet or so.0 -

There will be no Drop on there will be a single wall to the left (on the neighbors border) and to the right where the stairs are and there are already railings installed on the right by the stairs.
Anyone walking past on the pavement there will be no Gaps for them to fall into.0 -

But as per my photo above, you can't slope down too steeply in that short a distance otherwise you won't be able to get the car on there.0 -

It is not any 1 thing. It is some kind of barrier to stop someone falling from height.
It would need to be 1100mm if the fall is over 600mm and could be a fence, metal railings, scaffolding, block built wall. There are certain things it can and can't be but building control would advise you.
I think you are trying to do all of this without involving planning or building control, I also suspect you will not be applying for a drop kerb. All of this is of course your choice but a bit of honesty here my get different answers.
I am all for DIY/doing what you want to your own home, but 'careful' consideration needs to be given to every aspect. I think you are underestimating the visual impact any drive and car will have, along with detriment to light. I doubt the neighbours are fully aware of this either and as you are not even sure what you want to do I doubt they are aware of the possible scale of things.
Drainage being modern does not negate the need for either a permeable drive finish or draining to a soak-away/run off onto the garden (not to the drains).0 -
The council aren't gonna be too happy with your plans.0

As long as its legal and following legislation, don't see why not.0 -
