Thursday 14th July - what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

    Morning!

Yes I think keeping the worries in proportion is advice that is needed here at the moment.

Going to throw the ingredients for a chilli in the sc in a minute, get a shower and make my packed lunch. Both jobs today as usual. DS1 is at home so I might go straight from one job to the other without coming home to let the dog out.

Oh and washing to hang out before I go anywhere as the sun is shining at the moment. Best get cracking!

Morning all  - and thanks for the start Ally. I completely sympathise with being tired when you wake up. I just hope I pick up as the day goes on.
It's going to be a funny day, it's the school's annual 'reward' trip, which means that the good kids will be out all day - and we're meant to be 'business as usual' for those at school. Kind of difficult when you have a class with 1 or 2 people in... I'll see how we go.
    So, today's list:
    :D check banking and PAD
    :D try not to stress
:D mark a set of books (I'm almost caught up)
    :D get dd to cheer
:D go to my physio appointment
    :D do some more crochet
:D do 1 or 2 things from the annoying list
    :D aim for nsd
    :D meals from stores
:D read Martin's email (which I forgot to do yesterday)
Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all,
Am cracking on apace today, but my tongue is hanging out for a massive mug of coffee so that's not got to be too far down the list! Today's money saving stuff:
*Meals as per meal plans......unless I could make more space in the freezer by eating something else.
*Freeze the baking I did yesterday ready for guests coming to stay in a couple of weeks.
*Defrost everything needed for tomorrow's guests & get as ahead as possible by prepping fruit for a crumble, poaching fish for a big pie, hard boiling eggs for sandwiches, etc.
*Printed off the spreadsheets for an online budgeting project I was recruited to do via Ugov. It looks quite detailed, but I will have the figures to do it & as payment is in Amazon vouchers, it could be useful for presents later this year. I'll see how I get on.
*Watered & fed veggie garden. The courgettes are doing much better than last year. Made courgette pasta last night & it was yum!
*Clean whole house using minimal products & washable cloths. Might leave upstairs hoovering for mr f.to carry the hoover up. My bad arm is slightly better & I don't want to set it back by lugging heavy items about.
*Ironing - started this at 6.35a.m so made good use of cheap electricity tariff for at least half of it.
*Make list of things I could usefully do in town tomorrow when I can get a free lift in.
    *Do next week's meal plans.
*Write shopping list. Might need an online delivery as am busy tomorrow & mr f has the car on Sat. Could shop Sun but that's not much of a weekend for him, so may do it online & go out somewhere on Sun instead.
*Knit a bit more of Mum's Christmas present. - the section I'm doing at the moment is an 8-row lace pattern which I have to repeat 5 times before I can get onto the quicker easier bit I can do anywhere, esp when I'm watching TV. If I whizz through all my jobs, I can get some of this done, I hope.
OK, that will do. Coffee now. Actually no. Coffee at 10.30a.m, so I am going to challenge myself to get the conservatory, lobby & loo hoovered by then, & be ready to start the bathroom & lounge when I've topped up my caffiene.
    Love to all,
    F xx

  • I'll bob my head in here today.. I've done quite a bit this morning so far.
    • [STRIKE]Sort out payroll to be paid tomorrow [/STRIKE]. I rang up earlier as it appeared they hadn't even included my basic wage, I'd be about £400 down. So we'll see tomorrow if they have sorted it. I won't be happy if not.
    • [STRIKE]Carry out freezer inventory.[/STRIKE]I've gone through all our freezers this morning and wrote everything down into categories.
    • Reorganise freezers so we know where everything is and what to use first.
    • Make a meal plan for next week to use up what we have in stores
    • [STRIKE]Made big pot of leek and potato soup [/STRIKE]

    That's all for now.
    [STRIKE]superhero.[/STRIKE]
current debt as of 11/7/16: £1000.
all I want is to live a simple but pleasurable lifestyle and be happy.
