Morning all.
£12 on batteries yesterday. Nothing more annoying than running out in the spare battery drawer!
Also £4.99 on a month film pass from NowTv. We watched first Man and it was brilliant. £3.99 on a new kindle book. We didn't spend anything else all weekend so I'm quite chuffed with that.
Lots of rain though, not so good for the farm. We might be combining through the night tonight if we can to get the rape finished.
Not sure what we're doing today. Probably something outside with all the rain forecast this week.
Today I am getting back on my healthy eating wagon. I've been awful for 3 weeks now and it's really beginning to tell on my physical and mental health.
Today's get back on track menu is:
Avo on toast
Salmon salad
Egg sandwiches for tea.

Morning all. So yesterday's challenge was a failure. A quick trip to Aldi for kids toothpaste ended up in a spend of £14. Some on useful yellow sticker stuff but also on chocolate and haribo that I DID NOT NEED. And even more annoyingly Aldi didn't have the toothpaste so I had to go to the coop next door and spend £2 on it.
A bit of soul searching this morning for me. Why do I keep sabotaging myself in the evenings? I think it's two reasons.
1) tiredness. I don't cope with it well. Solution - either have a cup of tea instead, put my retainers in straight after tea or just go to bed earlier.
2) I don't want to lose those 4lbs enough. In fact I don't want to stay the same weight. If I was Dave Ramseying my weight I'd say my Why isn't big enough.
So here's my Why I'm going to eat healthy today:
Because I want to keep off the 4 stone I've already lost
Because my clothes will feel more comfortable
Because I'll sleep better
Because I'll be a better mum (better example and also less grumpy)
Because I'll be less likely to get a cold like the rest of the family.
So. Come on ZC. Just one day of eating healthily. I can do it.

I've done it. One whole day of eating well!!! :T:T:T
Also had an end of the month play with the money before a nice new shiny month happens.
The Joint Account is looking v healthy going into August. Traditionally it's a tough month for us with sky high childcare costs + no time + tiredness. I feel well prepared but we'll see what I say at the end of the month.
As I'm in Gazelle mode I've emptied all my Non essential ynab pots from my personal account (e.g. non essential clothes) and added them to savings. I found an extra £300 this way. So over this month I have saved £520.88 towards my 5k target, smashing my £203.44 target by £317.44:j:j So pleased with myself for that. The total emergency house fund is now at £3203.07. Although tomorrow is the fixed electrical check so lets hope and pray that there's nothing too bad as I could lose the lot in one fell swoop!
A new month tomorrow and a nice new shiny blank ynab page!0 -
Hi ZC thanks for reading my diary, You are doing really well. Hope the electrical check goes well.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hello all.
Well so far no phone call to say the house is condemned!!! Bit of a sh*t day at work yesterday though. We have a poorly tractor. They are expensive to fix but this one takes the biscuit - £20k to fix!! We are really rather angry.
In fact the stress is building. Dh is struggling with work and it's getting on top of him. We said last night we'd have a chat about if there's anything else we can outsource.
NSD yesterday for me.
Just a weekly shop being delivered today and that's all within budget.

Ouch to the tractor
Hope you manage to get something sorted.

Hi ZC, well done on the healthy eating, I really feel your pain on that one! I really need to lose at least the stone I have put on since changing jobs but motivation just deserts me!
Bad news about the tractor, they are costly machines. Hope it gets sorted.
Keep up the great work, you're smashing the savings.xNew Mortgage: £240 999 7/2/20 £ 205 000 Aug 23 Currently: £193 313 Jan 2025

Morning all. Thanks jwil & woodfired. We're hoping that as the problem has been there since we bought it that John Deere might contribute to it. Here's hoping.
Harvest is going well. Yields are good. Dh is exhausted. He refuses to get any help in so it's hard to stay sympathetic for some of it! He thinks it's easier to do it himself. Funny think is he complains about his dad not getting help when needed!
Ds started his gymnastics classes yesterday. He's fine toddler gym since he was 2 but with school starting has finished those now so this is him starting with the primary age class. He looked so little going in! He did love it though.
Unexpected trip to Aldi for pack luck stuff. I forgot just how much dh eats when he's working this much. £26 on lots of picnic extras.
Church this morning, then will head out to see the combine in action!0 -

Thanks savingholmes.
Bit of bad news on the house today. The handyman was replacing some fascia/guttering and says that the rendering on the front of the house is coming away and also that the roof is bowing in the middle.
Think I'm going to try and put it on the market. I'm not freaked out by doing the works, it's just with the farm business and also poorly parent that I just don't have the time or the mental capacity to cope. In fact I don't think I'm going to have time to even get to the agents till next week.
On a day to day basis I'm still going gazelle. If sale doesn't happen or if it takes a while I'm going to need every penny I can get.
£46 in dunelm today. £15 for craft stuff for a village fete on Saturday. The remainder on soap dishes for the house and a new sieve. We've been using way more bar soap so I've got sticky dishes for every shower and bath. All within ynab.
Have a good day all.0
