forwarding mail ideas

Any ideas for getting mail when you leave your rented property!

I cant afford a mail redirections service from the Royal Mail nor do I need one for 3 months which is the minimum term.

Would agency agree to keep the mail at their office for me for about 6 weeks so I can collect? I will ask.

What do other people do? When I hand keys back I still want access to my mail for a while.

Well just update everyone who sends you mail to your new address.

I have never relied on new occupants or letting agencies to hang on to or forward post for me. I've always paid for re-direction for 12 month (because there are those items you receive very infrequently) and updated my address with banks, utility companies, etc as soon as possible.

If you can't afford or don't want to pay for re-direction then you'll need to get your address updated with companies PDQ or you might never receive your post.

As an agent, I do tell outgoing tenants that I will ask the new tenants to keep the mail for them, but obviously I can't guarantee it.

There is not much for discussion. Either pay for the redirection(which isn't 100%)or have the risk of your mail going missing.

If you can't afford a redirection service, ask your mum and dad to up your pocket money.

    Change all addresses possible.
Is it a flat or house?
My rented property was a flat and I asked the lady in the one above to forward mail addressed to us as all mail came through to the communal area.
Aside from that, I have paid for 3 months Royal Mail redirection after we moved out of our last property and it really is worth the money, it seemed there were a few places I forgot about changing the address for

We tried to pass on post we found in our last flat to the letting agents to send on, including a P60 and an unopened valentine's card, and they were completely uninterested. They tried to bin the P60 (not even shredded) before we took it back to deal with ourselves.

(we feel like we know the previous tenants quite well now, from the first sober date to the ski holiday he went on with his friend instead...)

There are tight budgets, and there are tight budgets. If three months of post isn't worth thirty quid to you, then there's not a lot of point in worrying about it in the first place.
