I never had a contract at all they were employed to do a non habitable storage space with the intention of full conversation in a couple of years.
Flooring was supposed to be structural to support a full conversion.
And Perlins removed to open up space for future0 -
Just had another email saying they have posted yesterday a certificate gaurenteeing the work they have done and a receipt and they appologies that I wasn't made aware that they were sending it.
I assume that still isn't enough to confirm its been done to regulations?0 -

Well you had a verbal contract to build you a storage space, what they've done is a fancy way of boarding your loft and installing a loft ladder.
You need building regs for the structural work, new stairs and you'll also need fire doors.
Sounds like they've completed their side of the contract, you've probably not got what you wanted but what you agreed on so time to pay.0 -

There aren't regulations for boarding a loft for storage.0 -

Surely they havnt completed it as I have no way to know my roof won't cave in tomorrow the day after I pay! Surely this is the worst thing to do?0 -
I think your missing the point silver surfer. They didn't just board my loft. They undertook structural work by removing atleast 10 beams of wood supporting my roof!0

I think it's you missing the point, your contract was for a non habitable space. My loft is boarded for storage, it's non habitable same as yours but cost about £100.
I said earlier, what you wanted and what you agreed to are not the same thing. Your contract should have been you a floor meeting X reg with a view to full loft conversion and not for a non habitable space.
You've been told for it to be habitable you'd need building regs, stairs etc. How do you access this space?0 -

I stated I don't have a contract if your going by verbal contract yes I do I have a verbal contract to "fit structural flooring to regs"

An email here:
- Install wall plates gable wall and party wall bolted at 400mm centers
- Install joist hangers hangers at 400mm centres
- Install joists to regulations according to the trada table
- Lay three layers of earth wool insulation between joists
- Lay 18mm chipboard flooring
- Structural post to support roof
I've already posted this once. I don't think I'm being unreasable to want to make sure my house isn't gonna collapse!0 -
All of the above things have been done but I don't know if they are safe? What's wrong with wanting to know they are safe0

Then the Building Inspector will put your mind at rest as he will have completed his inspections as the work was done and will now return and issue you a certificate.0
