Shopping in London ???

Can someone recommend a big shopping center in London?
I'll be visiting London at the end of the month and rather have things planned out then just try to find it last minute.

I have Camden market on my list but that's not exactly big heh...so wanted to know...what's the biggest shopping center in London?

What do you want to buy? The main shopping area is Oxford Street, but that is unlikely to be the cheapest.
  • Well..I'm not too into the real posh stores so stores like H&M etc.

    Brent Cross?

    Kingston is quite good.

If you go to the other end of Oxford St (Tottenham Ct Rd end, near Virgin), not the dept. store end, you will find loads of 'one off' shops at dirt cheap prices.
:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood
  • I agree with TNG, Kingston isn't too bad at all if you want the 'chain' stores. Chelsea is nice too, more expensive but still has most of the chain stores along the Kings Road, as well as some interesting independent shops, it's nice to wander along there on a sunny day, and it's less 'hassled' than the major tourist areas. Oxford Street and that area have all of the major shops, but it can be really busy, especially at the weekends. Covent Garden is nice if you want something a bit more unusual, there are lots of small shops and market stalls, as well as some bigger shops in the surrounding area.

Avoid the hassle of central and take a trip to Bluewater! It was once the largest shopping mall in Europe and defo beats anything central has. Plenty of (free!) parking and places to sit and relax too.

One more place to add to your list

    Thanks folks ;)

Hmm Bluewater looks nice but it's telling me it's almost 2 hrs to get there via transportation! That's a bit too long for me and my husband will not like that long haul after a days shopping haha :rotfl:

Don't know where you are looking but it's about 45 minutes from the centre of London

I used the https://www.nationalrail.co.uk website to go to Greenhithe from where you can get a shuttle to Bluewater

At a guess TFL doesn't know about the shuttle as when you increase the walking time on http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk it then points you to Greenhithe rather than the round-the-houses route

You could try Romford. I always manage to get what I want there. I like Camden as well. They are going to demolish some of camden market soon so best to make the most of it while you can.
