They did not write to me in any way saying they were going to cancel my insurance. They emailed me saying they had cancelled my insurance. As for this "Joe" character, I have already made a complaint. It is being handled already.
They claim that the reason my insurance was cancelled was because I "declared that I was using my bike for delivery/courier aka class 3" when I did no such thing, I asked for a quote as I was considering getting a job with Deliveroo. They had the call checked and it was confirmed by that call that I only asked for a quote, and never stated that I was "going to use it for said purpose".
Later on, when I called them to resolve the matter and start a new policy, which would have cost me more, the gentleman I was speaking to said that a £10 credit of some sort was being applied making my insurance less than what I paid originally of £81.84 down to around £72. At that point, being in surprise, I asked him to see if he could get that going before my then current policy expired. He then out of the blue said "hold on one moment" and then a supervisor by the name of "Ben Hayes" came on the phone and said that my policy was cancelled because I was "abusive to thier staff". I admit being a little frustrated, but I completely deny being abusive in anyway aside from one or two mild expletives that I may not have realised were "abusive" to them. However, this guy said that I "put her in tears" when no such thing happened to my knowledge. In any event, I am sure that they can't just cancel my policy anyway, not without my permission.
I have made a complaint, and it is being handled by one of thier complaints steam members. If this is not resolved in the correct manner, I have warned them that I will have to involve the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Financial Conduct Authority.
I am disputing what this "Ben Hayes" has claimed and to be honest, it's a completely false allegation. I explained to him regarding my handicap and afterwards, it sounded like he was laughing at me, and that just got me to the point where steam was coming out of my ears. I stayed calm for the most part knowing I could make a complaint to the Ombudsman and the FCA.
Advice appreciated.
P.S. I feel like saying to them "find yourself a good lawyer, your going to need it." But whats the point?
I ended up getting insurance with "Entire Cover" and ended up paying around £45 more. They are very friendly staff and made me feel much better knowing that I would not be riding around uninsured.

I'd be mitigating my losses and aiming for them to confirm that they're just not quoting for your renewal (or quoting an absurdly high fee). Otherwise you're answering 'yes' to the 'Have you ever had insurance refused or cancelled ?' for the next xx years and you can wave goodbye to £80 premiums

p.s. presumably you did declare the cancellation to your new insurer ?0 -

UPDATE:
I have spoken at length with Hastings and they have admitted that they could have handled it better and issued me compensation, and an apology...
Now I have to deal with thier underwriters "Advantage" for what appears to be refusing to insure me because I have Aspergers.
Updates to follow.0 -
How on earth do you think you'll do that? Did you tell them you had Asperger's, then they cancelled? Or, were you, as a quite understandable result of having Asperger's, somewhat more challenging to deal with than other customers, and then they cancelled your policy?thetriggerhappypwner wrote: »UPDATE:

Save your energy and put it behind you, you're not likely to get anywhere with a crusade against Hastings' underwriter. You'll just waste time and stress on it.0 -
That's what the Ombudsman is for and if they cannot decide, the Financial Conduct Authority.0

After the Ombudsman, your only option is the courts. FCA don't deal with such matters.0 -
I am hoping it wont need to go further than that.0
