I did,nt , however someone suggested using kodi or plex , on a PC and as kodi is a internet based streaming device , used for tv in many countries I wanted to enable this. (recording)

yes I know I can buy a tv card , however that would only be for UK TV

so how do I set kodi to record and save on either a PC or android device?

Almost if not impossible without a whole lot of screwing around.

That is what people use torrents for...

I downloaded Kodi but gave up. Didn't work out of the box, couldn't be bothered spending hours trying to find the right plugin

no I do not wish to watch or download youtube

I would like to record a episode of tv that starts on quest later this evening

I have kodi installed (on PC and android) and can watch on "film on TV" , but wish to record it

If it's a one off episode you can register with filmon and record 1 hour free, some programs are available to be recorded after they've been shown.

As for Kodi it is not an out of box program it needs to be configured.
To record IPTV you need an external player-VLC is good then set VLC to record your streams additinal playlists and IPTV clients are
You will get much more help on the kodi forum in particular this thread
