Hi all, my grandad is currently with talk talk for broadband but is looking to change provider. He is concerned that by changing provider he will loose access to his talk talk email address.
I didn't think he would lose it but wondering if any of you know for definite?
Thanks.

I'd advise him to open a free web based email account. Then he can swap providers as much as he wants. - gmail, hotmail, mail.com, etc.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

If you leave an ISP then there is no obligation from them to continue providing services to you free of charge. So even if email continues to work initially, they may pull the plug at some point in the future or implement a charge.0

I thought the same when leaving AOL, and my 20+ email addresses
So i created 20+ alternate email addresses on various sites, yahoo, gmail etc.
But its been over 10 years and My AOL emails are still alive.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I've known a few people who've kept their AOL email since leaving. But when I left Talktalk I was told straight away my email would no longer be valid after x months. I never used it to see if they kept their word on that but can't imagine why they'd say something like that and then not carry it through.0

Hi Martm10
I'm sorry your Granddad is looking to leave TalkTalk. With regards to his email address we cannot guarantee access to the email service once the broadband/phone service has cancelled I'm afraid.
Vicky“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Talk Talk. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
I would advise that he opens a hotmail/outlook account and transfer the emails to it. I would never recommend anyone use gmail/googlemail after all the hassle I had with it and constantly and I mean weekly having to confirm/reset passwords due to browser upgrades/firefox email checking extension upgrades, IP address changes moon faze changes and other random things which required security checks. It's an absolute nightmare to use gmail now! However I have not had any problems using Mozilla Thunderbird with gmail to be fair, but browser gmail which is the most convenient, I would never use or recommend.
Personally I would never use a ISP's email due to restrictions when switching accounts, it's just not worth it IMO.0 -

I still have a Tiscali e-mail address from about 15 years ago which works fine (mainly for all my junk mail). I also use gmail and it works well on my tablet - only a few family members, MSE, and my bank know the address though.0

Thanks all. He's set up a new account and transferred all his email.0
