Selling a laptop on Ebay

I would personally never sell anything like that on ebay again after selling things before and having sellers scam me saying it doesn't work (after they steal parts) and other things too.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Thanks or your reply.
I feel a wally for being so wary as I have bought and sold on Ebay many times before now and have a rating of 156 but recent transactions has been a real mix so a big transaction like this has me running scared lol.
I recently sold a leather jacket only to have tea towels returned to me and a complaint made and in another transaction I bought two gold sovereigns only for them to never materialise but at least in this instance I got the money back.
Facebook selling is , in my opinion, the next biggest selling opportunity after ebay and I would certainly suggest giving that a try. Just search for local selling groups near you, some of mine have 30,000 users now, place your ad and wait for responses. You can control the sale so can insist on cash on collection etc. Yes there are scammers but not quite as many as on Gumtree- always watch for the dodgy paypal ones or the ones who claim a bank transfer has been sent. Be firm as well about collection, Facebook is full of time wasters, so set a strict collection criteria for instance 'they need to collect within 1 hour of their arranged time otherwise it goes to the next person'I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I personally would not use eBay after reading some horror stories of people being scammed when selling phones etc. I would use Facebook first and maybe Gumtree if I wasn't getting much interest on Facebook. Insist on cash on collection only, full payment only, don't hand that laptop over until you have all the money in your hand. Don't feel cheeky counting the money in front of the person either, a friend of mine once sold something for £100 cash on collection, the person handed over the cash and said it was all there but my friend didn't count it because she said she 'felt awkward'?? It was only when she took it to pay into the bank that she realised she only had £90. She did message the person that bought it from her as it was through Facebook, but the person just ignored her messages.0

Try a few local independent computer shops. They may offer more than CEX.0

I did recently sell a laptop on eBay no problems, but it was a cheaper and older model. I did the cash on collection, collection only thing. I had it professionally wiped and re-set before selling. The person that bought it was lovely and I never had any problems.
However, I did use CEX to sell my old iPod as I didn't want repercussions later down the line from someone claiming it didn't work or something.
Personally I find Facebook selling groups utter rubbish and I think there's more opportunity to be scammed as neither party has any protection whatsoever.Minimalist
