When would you exchange euros

Ok.
So going to Dublin on 21/07/2016 to 25/07/2016.
Would you exchange before or after the Bank of England announces on interest rates?
Or would you hedge your bets and get 50% before and 50% afterwards.
As a family are planning to use cards, AQUA credit card and M&S debit card (if need top up from cash machines) but don't feel comfortable going cashless so would like to take a few euros as won't be having a hire car and planning on using taxis and public transport.

The title is clear enough, this question appears regularly, sometimes several times a day lately. If you toss a coin it will give as good an answer as anyone can say. A 50/50 'hedge' is often suggested.
If you have a smartphone you can use Revolut to exchange when you prefer at interbank rate (weekdays), no fees except 2% for withdrawals over €650 per calendar month.Evolution, not revolution0 -
What do you expect the BoE to say/do about interest rates?
How will that affect the pound/Euro exchange rate?
Your view on these questions is just as valid as mine. And of course something might happen that has a bigger effect...0 -
I'm off to Greece 22nd August, I'm only taking £500 worth of € the rest will be spent off card. Am on a tight budget but not overly bothered about exchange rate - I'll keep an eye on it but as long as no drastic drops I'm not worriedI am a Mortgage Adviser
