Have you got your letter yet and what have they asked you to do?
I don't have to dismiss them as a bank etc. They do a very good job of that themselves.
Oh yes, I received a letter this morning. As part of our account opening process we need to confirm your identity.
To help us do this, please- sign this copy
- return it to us in the prepaid envelope provided
I think this is a joke. How can they confirm my identity with my signature when they cannot have a specimen of my signature on file?
Anyway I signed it and posted it to them because I'm curious and according to the blurb my account should be fully operational in 14 days.0 -

I think the letter has turned out to be as I described...
You will soon have access to the money deposited and it surely wasn't so bad?
They will keep texting you until they get them back as well!!
All god fun!!0 -

Yet again the point flies over your head: The point is not what Tesco Bank did but the time taken to do it. Still no confirmation that the account is operational and available balance is still nil!0 -

When did you open the account online?
When did you receive the letter?
How much did you deposit when you knew there were restrictions before you could access the money?0 -

That information has already been given. Read back. How much I have deposited is not relevant.
Today I received a SMS message asking me to return the forms which I have already done. I'm hoping it's an automatic message sent to everyone.
Account still not set up.0 -
Incorrect, it must be set up for you to deposit into it.
Not incorrect at all. I can deposit but not withdraw and that is in the blurb. Then if the bank's demands are not met deposits are returned to where they came from. Applicants must be able to deposit at least £1 to start the application process and that is required during the application process as is setting up a DD with a linked account to make further deposits and that DD is active on my TSB account.0 -
Goodness this thread seems to have been derailed considerably.
To OP, I have a FD account and have no gripes with the service but I do not have a mortgage with them and have never applied for one with them.
My suggestion would be to look at best mortgage buys and go from there. I have a Santander 123 account and in the days when we still had a mortgage it was them and we moved on to new fixed/capped rate deals regularly every 3-4 years and never had a problem. Previously we went with Halifax who again were fine and remortgaged with no problem. My daughter and SIL are with them and speak highly of them and my other daughter has a mortgage with Yorkshire Bank. Never had a problem.
Maybe FD are following the mistakes Santander did a few years back in extending their customer base considerably and not taking on enough staff to cope.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I can only infer that English is not your mother tongue. If you can make deposits and DDs then the account is set up. If you cannot make withdrawals that is because it is not yet active.
I think I begin to see your problem; if your understanding of the meaning of 'set up' and 'active' is not in agreement with the bank's own use of these terms then you are going to come into conflict with them. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

Hey very nice nitpicking. I wonder why you have descended into racism and/or xenophobia though. Are you inferring that the English language is superior?
Cannot do DDs with that account. The Tesco Bank DD is on my linked TSB current account.0
