Missed flight due to airport error

My Son & I were traveling to Athens from Stansted. We arrived in plenty of time and was delayed at check in but the worst delay happened at Security. The airport has finally accepted liability after 2 letters and a 3rd to the CEO. We were stranded at the airport for over 24 hours and had to pay for new flights and a hotel stay as they would not help us. They have agreed to refund all our out of pocket expenses but I missed a business meeting and cut short our already 6 day break. I've requested compensation and they have offered £150 which seems an insult to me bearing in mind the stress of the whole incident. 11 people missed the flight due to hold ups at security not just us. We were stranded at the boarding gate with the plane still on the runway and had to run the gauntlet through a no entry sign to get back to the main area to get help.
Am I being unreasonable and where should I go from here please?

Are you are being unreasonable? Only you can really determine the actual loss to you and whether the offer is reasonable/acceptable.
I assume you have claimed via your insurance for any cover that provides.
If you do consider the offer not acceptable your only real course of action is to make a court claim and justify your losses accordingly. Before doing so you may wish to write to the airport authority and point out that you do not consider the offer fair given the circumstances and surely they will reconsider rather than pursuing the matter through legal channels.0 -
If the delay had been due to the airline you would have received duty of care (hotel meals etc) + replacement flight + €400 each (fixed fee, no additional compensation for consequential losses or stress)...would that figure be acceptable?0

This is of course appalling. However, since it does not come the relevant EU regulation I fear that Court proceedings would be pretty complex and would not do that without professional advice. If it gets that far (which it may well not if you write as 111KAB says) I would try and get a nwnf lawyer or see if Citizens Advice would assist.0
