Mobile TV receiver for iPads

Not sure whether I should ask here or on the technical board.

I'm looking for a portable Freeview TV receiver that operates without using data or wifi on an iPad so you can watch TV whilst out camping.

I'm thinking something similar to this Humax one would be good but this review is a few years old now so I'm not sure whether there's anything better available.

Any ideas or tips most appreciated.

You say without using wifi or data .
The link is to a wifi device.

Its an over the air service you require .
TV/ Freeview via an aerial .
    Something like .
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/August-DVB-T205-Freeview-Receiver-Recorder/dp/B002EHVP9C

But from experience you need a very strong signal .

The one in the OP is a DVB-T receiver as well, and connects to the iPad wirelesslesly via it's own wifi network, so I assume meets the requirements of the poster (doesn't use cellular data, doesn't need a local wifi network). The one you posted would have no way of being used by the iPad (for both software and hardware reasons).

It appears you can get ones that plug in directly (via lightning or 30 pin connectors). JJ Egan makes the point that all of these portable aerials need very strong signals to receive anything, and while I have no experience of tuners for iOS devices, standard USB ones I've found to be very poor unless using an aerial much larger than the one they come provided with.

Thanks, so I guess what I need to ensure is that there is a port to connect an external aerial or signal booster if necessary.

The one I was originally looking at is the August DVB-T405 but it's no longer available for some reason.
