In view of the Auld Alliance I think I need to be on the other side
I'm conflicted. And the product of various Celtic types cavorting with the locals. Can't we just shout a bit louder and go red in the face?
Strangely, my confliction has evaporated.
Can I suggest that the Oppressors of most of the World at one point or another are left to get on with their jolly little jaunt whilst us pasty white/freckled/gingery types get our land back? I'm sure that with a little coaching, I could improve my accent; it already varies from Sarf Lundun Scum (as anything else would result in a good kicking when I was nuffink but a scrawny guttersnipe), through a rather strident Margaret Rutherford which can stop children, animals and elderly gentlemen in their tracks at 20 paces, all the way to the blood chilling sotto voce RP of Nanny's voice that emerges when I am simply incandescent with fury and terrifies all within range.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Morning all!
I am very tired (and more than a bit hungover) but have to be up as hopefully a nice gas-person will be changing my meter from pre-payment to credit type thingy....any time between 8am and 12 noon. I WAS feeling a bit grumpy but the last few pages on here have had me laughing out loud :-) Please don't ever change, you're all brilliant!

Jojo Can you "do" Joyce Grenfell?
Oh DfV, I bet your son was not popular when you found your stash of jars gone  Thanks for mentioning the Aldi tortellini. I shall get some of those!0 -
Bedsit Bob Thanks for that reminder. I need to swap the ones that are down there and make sure that I put clean ones in place. I hadn't thought about that.
DigForVictory Seconding Ivyleaf. Aldi isn't my usual supermarket because I can't get a direct bus but I detoured on going today and wax really impressed. Tortellini now in the Armageddon cupboard upstairs.
My poor dog is shivering under the table which is draped in thick blankets to make a 'save cave'. We have loud but soothing music on, have mixed stuff to calm him into his food and I have bought one of those 'pet calm' plug ins but the fireworks really stress and panic him.
Are there any other preps I could make? I really hate seeing him so distressed.0 -

Blimey! With the ability to jack straight onto the hindbrain by voice, you have no need of foreign languages or pitchforks. Murmurs she, reflectively & frankly enviously!
Have resupplied on jars, noodles & tortellini - son has been permitted one lapse - if he pulls that trick again, I'll invoke the Riot Act. Which, just by chance, I have in my Facebook feed in case of emergencies. I nearly let hungry younger sibling loose on him.
To soften the heart of the crittur, I have bought him the magnetic torch he coveted, (as it was reduced).
I like the idea of a safe cave. (Unfortunately the chaps can find me & require things of me Anyway.) However, if Trump visits again, I'll dive back under my table, clutching assorted blankets.
Having donated my first Aid kit to the Young [STRIKE]Master[/STRIKE]Monsters new household, I need to extract an older one from storage so we have dressings etc In The Event. Should resupply on sticky plasters too - I go through them a bit, cooking. (The joy of a sharp knife is you only cut once, the downside is that includes fingers. Anyone got a good YouTube link on good chopping knife technique?!)0 -
