I guess we could have held onto a lot of France after WW2 if we'd thought of it?

Magnanimity is wasted until we hold both ends of the channel tunnel or dynamite it thoroughly.

Either way, let me know & I'll bring the fletching tackle, bow, arrows & sons with pitchforks. And various out of date first aid kits so any collateral damage can be staunched swiftly.

What's the situation regarding looting? All you can carry from carrefour or are vehicles that can sail back permitted to load to the plimsoll line?

I think the usual rules about not raping should apply (thanks to our wicked old colonial past, we've advised the Vatican on how to prevent this - let it not be said our military do not learn from their previous encounters & are remarkably capable teachers, sharing experiences.)

Do you insist on the Falklands, GQ? It's a *long* row, but we could kidnap some cruise liners again? I wonder if the marquees we used to use for the annual vegetable & flower show are still whole &, if so, if we could bring them back & restart the show again. The military lendeth & the military tooketh away again - if the local TA were presented with several metric tons of wet canvas & told they were to raise this one weekend in early Autumn every year (or we'd set GQ & her army loose again), I think they'd cooperate.

Repossess chunks of France? Hey, every woman we said could wear whatever headgear she chose would join us, but we'd then have to sort out the local nationalists who think the Moslem faith should be driven from our shores. Which would deplete my local NHS something gruesome, so maybe we should send those enthusiasts to protect the borders of 'our' France where the combat might be reasonably expected to be most severe.)

Cappella, what's your view on iodine? Needlessly painful & outdated, or still useful in the psyops of health? Says she with a litre of the veterinary mix which works fine on punctured humans & has reminded knee grazers that it is a Bad Idea to tackle on tarmac.

:) I was thinking we could use Ro-Ro ferries as troop transports and start by looting the duty-free supermarkets. If we manage not to go into a cheese & wine coma, we could move on nicking all the stone off the cathedrals and churches in Normandy. And their contents.

Building which were built, we know, with the proceeds of the Norman looting of Britain.

We shall loot them back again and replant them in Britannia and charge tourists extra to enter them should they be of the French persuasion. The wealth equivalent of tens of millions of pounds was taken from this country to build those things and I think we should repo it as a matter of principle. I'm gonna commission the Danes to dismantle the cathedrals (they're a dab hand with Lego, it makes sense to use them) and the Dutch to float it across the Channel on pontoons.

Plus there's something they insist is a Tapestry but which looks like an Embroidery to me. If they don't even know what it is, they're better orf without it........ :rotfl:

:o Oooh, I hve googled for the Agincourt Carol, listened to it and have now got some ancient music on a loop - funny how the rabbit holes of the interwebulator lead you into straaange places like von Biber.

Just speculating if any spooks are sending reports to their seniors regarding 'Prepping fundamentalists planning to invade France'. :)
  • Good quality tweezers or none at all, though. I'd recommend pointed ones by Tweezerman - they're narrow enough to actually get into a hair follicle without causing injury, so would be able to cope with deep and thin splinters (or glass). Keep them in their holder at all times and never use them for anything else, as it only takes one careless use to knock the alignment of the points out - but they will last for years and years if well cared for.

I'm either so tired I'm hallucinating or somebody is off on a bit of a flight (or ferry trip) of fancy here.

Don't forget to prep by knowing how to play an acoustic instrument of some kind. I'd recommend a Bodhran, as the masses will need drums to keep them marching in step and they're a lot lighter than a marching snare, don't require sticks (although you can use a tipper or bone if wished) and can then be used in a drinking situation for dancing and other such morale boosting activities. As with most drummers, you only need to master counting in fours or sixes and you'll have all the skills you'll need.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
