I have four (fake) fur coats ;)

MIA as father sadly passed away. Good life and good death - no-one can ask for more. Everything organised.

On the prepping front, further to being told off (in the nicest possible way by Bedsit Bob) I have bought another 10 litre water carrier. So I now have 2 x 10l containers + 6 x 2l bottles. We really have nowhere to store anymore but we do also have cartons of juice and UHT milk.

We've just signed up for the British Gas free electricity on Sundays deal. I plan to batch cook, strip the beds and save as much washing as possible for the day. The menfolk are usually taken up with football training and matches so I can get on without interruption :)

Did the last Icelandic volcano disrupt food imports much? I can't remember.

Looking at what is happening within the NHS, I think MITSTM might have been on the right track thinking about good medical reference books and natural remedies!
Saying that, Dad had the most wonderful care enabling him to stay at home. Couldn't fault the service he received and we were deeply appreciative of all the people who helped us look after him where he wanted to be.:)

Bit rambly but brain still a bit scrambled ( or as usual :rotfl:)

Just sticking head around door to say I Prepped!

Visiting folks (please forgive my tactlessness, Doveling?) who had a letter to say Water would be turned off (For Works). They'd filled a single demijohn & thought themselves well ahead, despite having 5 guests due.
I whipped around, and filled all three bathtubs, while mum checked with neighbours - a Bank Holiday & water board doing Anything seemed an odd combination but all had the same letter. Phone call revealed Works would start at 20:00 (so us visitors did not need buckets to flush loos!) & later heard Water board postponed whole palaver til October.

Parents reported they had drained the bathtubs (and not used any of it for washing up, tea, plant watering, etc tush tush) but had noted & appreciated the abundance of water available and would repeat the exercise in October.

Have found mason jars on sale in home bargains at 59p a half litre! Eerin but still capable of holding jams & chutneys. Son wondrously docile carrying the first half dozen home - must get him to suggest which fruit he can see/help pick/help make jam with first!

  • You have my condolences, Doveling; even a good life well-lived, and a peaceful & not unexpected passing leave a big hole in your heart.

Doveling, I'm so sorry for your loss. I am sure it must be a comfort that he had a good death and was able to stay at home. I know it was for us when my mother died
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
