Did you see the side-bar story on Mar's linky about those daddy-long-legs spiders? I have those in my flat. And only those. On the rare occasion a giant house spider comes in, I try to catch it in a glass and throw it out again, or the others will eat it. Good to know I have cannibal spiders on my team.
Actually, whilst having breakfast yesterday, there was a wasp indoors. I was pressed for time and hoped it'd make its way out of doors via a window left ajar. Haven't seen any sign of it but now I wonder if it has fallen victim to the Evil Cannibal Spiders.Gosh, it's enough to make me want to put something on my feet.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I did see them and thought of you GQ. My god if that was me I'd be using a flamethrower nevermind putting something on my feet!!!!0

I hate wearing shoes and socks and will go barefoot as long as the temperature will stand it (tiled floors over concrete, and a few rugs). If there are giant house spiders seen I will recoil into a foetal position on armchair screeching like a loon, hate those things. *shudders*
My leg-puller of a father got the giant spider out of the tubs at theirs and carried it past me in a cup, pretending that it was struggling so hard that he could barely keep ahold of it.
For some reason those spindly spiders don't trigger my arachnophobia. I can even fish them barehanded out of the tub. Even thinking about that with regular spiders is enough to give me palpitations, and not in a good way.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Condolences Doveling. x
Started 'eating the freezer's.
Can't easily get into them as they are rather haphazardly filled so will pick out 'low hanging stuff' for a while until i can see my way in there.
Trouble is, yesterdays pound of mince then made a leftovers portion of shepherds pie which took up more spaceOH is going away for nearly two weeks soon, so i will work my way down the contents then - with DS.
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
digforvictory check the labels on the jars especially the one underneath. I found some in our home bargains and the label said not to immerse in boiling water. They looked like Mason jars but they were for crafts or dry storage
Hugs for you doveling ,very painful to lose a loved one.0 -
My dad's funeral was just perfect too doveling. A nice end to a nice life.0

(((Hugs))) Doveling, sorry to hear your sad news, take care of yourself.
We're STILL clearing out my mum's house (she passed 6 months ago), but aware of the need for promptness, as it's up for sale and could go any time. We keep turning up all sorts of things she'd saved 'because they'd be useful one day', including fabric for sewing that was old when I was born, THE most ancient wooden spoons and all sorts of wondrous things in the attic!! I'm going to keep a few truly useful things, and some family heirlooms, but none of us has space for much more, and I feel it's sinful to chuck away so much of a person's life.
We're eating from the freezers, too, as one is going to the tip this week (beyond-repair seals and 16 years old), in preparation for building work next week. I have an assortment of cup-a-soup type things, microwave rice and so on, and when we need to we'll move the toaster, kettle and microwave into the front room to have basic meals. Mum's house is 5 minutes' walk away, so have plans to make and eat main meals there, if it doesn't clash with viewings - really can't do with the added cost of eating out or having takeaways most nights!

Doveling, sorry to hear about your dad.
As far as volcanoes are concerned, if it gets really bad here for ash from Iceland - might be worth buying a few rolls of clingfilm in advance, I wrote a bit about that last year, but did another search now and found the official (USA) guidance - it doesn't sound bad, actually. Just putting it in on the offchance2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
What's the clingfilm for Karmacat?0
